Hey Noizmaker.
FVxh8.gif

Just wanted to let you know, if you want flavourings that don't have any PG in them (so that way your base liquid + flavour, the whole thing, is PG-free)...Perfumer's Apprentice has some where instead of PG or alcohol, they use triacetin as the base carrier.

Perfumers Apprentice - Flavors - Non PG

Triacetin is food-safe, GRAS, and inhalation tests have shown no outstanding issues. It's also closely related to PG & VG (they're all members of the glycerin family). It's not as thick as VG, either...so it makes a better alternative. Personally, I find that using a triacetin-based flavouring seems to make the juice vape better. Me likes.

Anyway, hope that helps! Chances are good too that if there's a flavour of hers you want that's not listed in that section, that Linda would agree to make it up for you as a tri version.

Thank you Rachel :) I 110% will be checking that out. It's going to be another learning experience that's for sure, but I don't mind that at all. Here's to new recipes! :toast:

Let the post stand as is IMO. This stuff needs to be in the open, so others don't feel the need to suffer in silence.

K, I restored the post to it's original form. I agree completely Switched, I just don't want anyone to be scared of PG or even knock PV's at all. It's been a very positive experience for me until this stuff started.

OK, dumb question: Is Culligan/Corpells water the same as distilled water?

Because we live on a farm and have well water, we buy those big 5 gallon jugs of water from the grocery store for drinking/cooking with. Would it be pure enough to use in DIY juice?

No, distilled water is distilled water, available in 1gal jugs from both the pharmacy and grocery stores.

Actually, Culligan sells filtered, spring, demineralized, and distilled water. (We do the same thing here - our water is BLECH.) Check your bottles. It will say on the label.

ETA: They are also usually differentiated by cap color - blue for spring, green for distilled, red for filtered, etc.

I hear ya brother, trust me I hear ya. My episode started in Sep some time. Way too soon to quit vaping. I was floored. I dissected and isolated the events that led to my conclusions. It wasn't until I was able to get 100% VG back towards the end of Nov early Dec that all was well, as I was still vaping DIY at 36% PG concentration + flavours = 50/50.

ETA: No cause from alarm because from what I have read there should not be any long term side effects. Should being the operative word. talk about KYA.

Well everyone all if well enough right now I suppose. I am getting everything ready to go to the doctor, I am still getting small muscle pains and a little back pain, but I am so far sticking at the 60% VG / 40% PG until I get more supplies.

I placed an order with P&G for some free USP VG base and I will be getting 2 gallons in the mail sometime in the next 2 weeks. I figured this is the best, cheapest and easiest way for me to obtain VG in a good enough quantity ( 128 fl. ounces in a US gallon x 2 = more than 256 30 ml bottles of juice lol, might be a bit of an overkill, ya think?).

Next I will be checking out my supermarket for some distilled water and trying to get myself into Quebec sometime in the future for some Alcool. I will check out those Tri flavors and some alcohol based ones as well and since it is not bothering me too much to use the VK mix that I have now I might just be able to get away with using normal flavoring.

Also I have to get some Ethyl Malitol and Malic Acid to get some awesome sweet and sour flavors!

So basically I believe the PG is the culprit already as I can tell from my own symptoms that this is the case but I will pursue it fully and appropriately. Regardless of the findings though I sadly have to give up pre-mixed juices and will never get to try Play-Yours or Timmies Double Double, but oh well, life goes on!

Worry not, Noiz - the Play Yours Right is available as an all-VG juice, too!

Electro Vapors - Play Yours (10 ml) VG

All the best, and happy vaping!

I too think I have become sensitive to PG. Not really sure but here's my story. Started vaping around November 1st last year (so like 3 solid months to this point) and everything was fine. Then in the beginning of January, I was having real sinus issues. I'd blow my nose out in the morning and (not to be gross here) had pretty yellow snot that just didn't look right. I figured I was probably getting a cold or something so didn't think much about it. Well it continued until last week when I went to a trip to Mexico. I basically had zero intention of vaping while down there and had bought cigars here to take with me (former frequent cigar smoker). Being on vacation with the sun and the booze flowing, I wanted cigars :) Anyway, all week I was down there and had my cigars with an occasional vape here and there. I did not have any sinus issues and felt fine. The day we're heading home, the cigars are done and I'm vaping away like crazy. The next morning, back to the yellow snot blow outs. Now maybe it's the air here or the vaping...not sure. But it does make me think it's the vaping (PG) since I was not doing much of it at all while on vacation. I got a shipment of some VG based juices the other day and am going to try them to see if the issue can go away. I don't want to go back to cigars of course but by the same token, I'm getting tired of the morning blow out routine as well. I can't see this as being a good thing to have.

Anyone else have sinus issues with their vaping? Thanks.

Actually I have noticed this as well. I even have been coughing up phlegm a lot recently and I won't get too hardcore into the details but it isn't pretty. Regardless, I still have less issues than I did with smoking, where I would wake up with painful lungs and was always stuffed up no matter what.
