Is it really safe charging Sony VTC at 10 AMP?

From specs I have read it sais maximum continous charging current 10A, but most 18650 chargers charge at 1A or less.
Is it safe charging them with a hobby charger at 10A? And will it shorten the lifespan of the cell?

10A is a lot of current to throw at a battery. I don't think I would trust a battery that much. You would probably be safe at 2A for faster charges.

The maximum continuous charge current for the VTC5 is 4 amps per the spec sheet so I would just stick to a standard 1 amp charge current.

Weird.. yesterday I read 10A but now I can't even find where I read it.
Now I find specs saying max 4A for VTC5 and 6.5A for VTC4
