Is it safe to use a Smoktech RDA with a Vision Spinner/eGo Passthrough?

I just ordered a Smoktech RDA from mt.bakervapors and some replacement coil/wicks along with a few passthrough batteries to augment my Vision Spinner.

I also just read that the resistance for the stock coils are somewhere around 1.7 ohms. Is this okay to use on these little batteries or did I just flush that 10 bucks? (no big deal if I did, I'm getting a Vamo or some sort of APV in a few weeks probably)

I have a junky multimeter that works well enough, so I could make new coils if need be. But can I use this out of the box when it arrives without killing my batteries?

1.7 ohms is about the lowest nominal I would go on those batteries. The problem is there is a tolerance on it and you don't want to get under about 1.5.

I think this RDA uses silica, not SS mesh wicks. If this is true, I would use it on my Spinner or eGo's because the risk of a short is almost zero. I would not use SS wick on these batts, because if the battery protection failed and you had a short they could explode.

Hm, thanks for the info. I found out today the Spinner DOES have some sort of short detection and protection. I ordered some Kanger MT3 clearos and one wouldnt fire. The switch LED just blinked on and off as if I turned the device on or off, or if it was indicating a low battery. Sure enough my multimeter detected a short.

But yeah, the Octopus uses silica, I'm not ready to make stainless steel mesh wicks yet. I just wanted to know if the battery would be okay firing at 3.3v with the low resistance.
