Hi David and welcome to ECF!

It's probably safe, but I still wouldn't blow vapor in young children's faces. One reason is that children like to imitate adults and I wouldn't want my kids to try it. Don't leave your e-cigs unattended, and keep all your e-liquids in a locked box--especially if you have children or pets! But there is no problem using them in the house or apartment where children reside.

That said, I always try to be considerate of others when I vape; not so much because of possible dangers, but some eliquids are flavored and other people may not like the scents. I also never wear perfume when I attend a concert, for the same reason. :)

Yes it is safe. Studies I have read show that the amount of any harmful substances in the vapor are so negligible, they aren't even measurable.

The greater risk posed to children is the ejuice; keep that under lock and key as nicotine is a poison. What is a safe amount for you to handle could make a child seriously ill or worse. The smell and candy flavors may tempt them. Be sure they know it's poison.

I think the vapor itself is harmless but I probably wouldn't because I am a weirdo. Also, if your vaporizer leaks, not a good idea. Also, the advice about keeping liquids locked away is important.

For me, I think it would be easier to not do it and not worry about any of those things. I have a man cave though, so I can store everything there and it's a nice place to retreat and vape. Individual situations are just that, individual.

Now I just need to work on having some kids.

Sorry Katya, I'm new to the lingo ..what does PV mean?? :p

Sorry.

Personal vaporizer--another word for e-cig. :)

We use a lot of acronyms here.

Also, if you hover you mouse (well, your cursor) over an unfamiliar acronym, like PV, you'll see a definition.

I vape in the same room as mine. We do, however, lock up all of our liquids, and clean all spills up ourselves, and liquids are only allowed in the bedroom ( so we do all refilling and whatnot on a table in our room.) This way, nothing gets carried, left, and forgotten in other rooms.

Children are also not allowed unsupervised into our room, so that helps that.

I've been reading this forum for nearly a week and never knew this!! Thanks !!

To the OP...I personally feel like this...if your kids are used to being around you while smoking a real cig, I dont see why vaping around them would be any different..actually, probably safer.

But, yes...def. put your "gear" up out of their reach...me personally, if the kids are old enough..I find them less likely to try to mess with things that they shouldn't be messing with, if you just talk to them about WHY they shouldnt be messing with it. Show they something and tell them to never touch it...first thing they'll do when they get a chance...is to find it and see what's they deal with it being put up. Tell them that it is poisonous and can make you VERY sick if messed with, that's why you are putting it up...and even show it to them...most times that cures their curiosity and they forget about it. Anyhow...least that's what works in this house.

I personally vape around my 15 month old and my pregnant fiance (although not so much now because it makes her sick lol), but never very close to them. I usually stay in the other room, or at least far away from them. I don't see the harm in it, but not enough extensive research has been done/known to me for me to feel its 100% safe to be near them while vaping....so I keep my distance until I know otherwise.
