That MXJO is good up to a max of 20amps, that 35amp rating is a mis-advertisement, it is the pulse discharge rating which is anywhere from 1/2 second to 2 or so seconds, most vapers fire a mod for more than 5 seconds, so use the 20amp continuous discharge rating (CDR). Looking at the battery bottom post picture you've given, on top of that arcing discoloration, I am seeing what looks like an indentation caused by the battery cover/cap of the mod, the bottom should be perfectly flat, an indentation can can shift the internal cathode or anode (internal positive and negative points) which can lead to arcing or shorting internally if the damage is critical internally. As it stands right now with that negative end damaged, get a replacement battery, take some electrical tape and on the old damaged battery wrap the battery end to end several times, place the battery in a ziplock bag and take it to a BestBuy, Home Depot, Lowes, or any other vendor that has a battery recycling collection bin. I'd also break out a sanding stone or grinder stone on a Dremel tool and grind down that fine point on that battery cap that cause that dimple damage on the battery, most likely acted like a center punch when you dropped the mod, mod hit the ground, battery pushed down the spring loaded positive contact, then the spring shot the battery back into that battery cap nipple and dimpled the negative end.

@Max Molina
MXJO makes a battery wrap that is half yellow and half clear, the wrap in above picture is fully present, it is shrunk around the negative end seen, just being a clear plastic it is hard to notice the shadow in that picture is all.

I do have the queston: is the arc spot then any bad? should i just throw this one away? You all know safety and all.

if its just an arc spot and not a hole, I see no major issues... try to see if you can remove the bump on the bottom cap and make it level... ( if there is a nipple there)...

To answer your question, I wouldn't use that cell above 45w, there are at least 3 versions of that battery ranging from a poor quality 15a CDR to at most a 20a CDR cell.
There is no way for anyone to tell from pictures which version you have.

The amp shown on your display screen has nothing to do with battery amp draw (input), it is a worthless display feature (output).

I would continue to use it if it was all I had to vape with after smoothing the dimple in the battery cap. (40w-45w or below)

I question how secure the battery is in the mod. The device said check battery either cause it was low (if that is how the mod detects low batt) or because it had a connection problem. Probably the later. Batteries do differ in lengths by fractions, but they still do. It may just be a manufacturer of battery that your mod does not like. Any way to tighten the battery on its connection more? I would say it is less a defect in battery and more the former.

I have been trying to remove the smudge on the battery cap. I cant see/feel a protrusion on the cap, however i will sand it with my dremmel when i get home. I will lower the wattage to the stated recommendation. And thanks again for the answers. On the plus side. the battery cap spot has come off a bit with just my nails. so it should be easy to level with the dremmel.

As for the low bat notification, it usually displays "low battery" instead of check battery.

Wait... this had no wrapper? -_- isnt that unsafe? i thought this thing come with the wrapper on it? they guy at the vapeshop said it was good to go.
Whoever sold that crap to you is an absolute R****d. Every battery NEEDS to have wraps around it otherwise there's a big chance to get a short (aka metal on metal contact). Never use any batteries if the wrap is removed on top or bottom. Thought smok included a "battery safety" chart thing to show you when not to use them though.....

then it sounds like connection or defective battery but, I would say more likely connection. Can you screw the cap on tighter. Well before you answer that, is the mod showing the error anymore?

The message only came up once, upon which the mod didnt fire with 70% battery. I immediately removed the battery and noted the "arcing point". Then i got it back in. I have fired it a few times and i havent noticed anything weird. The only thing that kinda took me for surprise what that when i took that battery and pu it back in, when i took it out it was a bit warm despite not firing the mod for a while. it was barely warm at touch. That did set me off a bit.

As for the wrapper, we have concluded that it does indeed have a wrapper on it, and that the MXJO half bottom of the battery wrapper is translucent. I have revised the battery and i indeed see a plastic wrap all over the battery.

ok...I see, the battery wrap is fine. Originally I thought it was an LG battery cause it was yellow but, I see the wrap...and ya translucent. So I do not believe the battery is defective. But I sure would not want to be wrong so best to find out the problem. Being warm and not firing is a concern but most likely it just stayed warm from the last time it was fired. So you are not getting this message error anymore and it is working, yes? And can you feel when you tighten the battery door it is tight? Or can you tighten it more? If not and everything is ok then I would just vape on.

Max, if you haven't got an ohm reader yet and are still checking your build by firing the mod with it you can make that better by just flicking the power button quickly then screw the tank down. It should read it fine w/o actually firing it.

well i have one... it is useless for vaping tho, it is industrial and very inaccurate for sub ohm readings. Thanks for the tip tho! I can now build it and most likely wont short it, since i rebuilt it like 5 times in a row until i got it perfectly. 5 wraps of my kanthal comes very nicely to .3 or 0.4 ohms with dual coils.

Thanks ya all for the info. will keep you posted with how the bat perform. i have used it for now at lower wattage (40 watts) without issues so far. no messages again.
