Hey guys,

My ego PT just died, as it does once in a while, but I think it may be dead dead. I plugged it into the PT and ir didn't light up. Then I plugged it into the regular ego charger and it didn't light up.

Now for reference, It has not been losing battery life. It always lasts a minimum of 6hrs (except this charge which was about 4-5 hours. I've also owned the battery since mid-feb, so it's not that old, but it is my primary battery and has been through nearly 100 charges.

Is there a reason why it's not charging, and can it be saved? I don't have the extra funds to buy a new ego batt at the moment, so I'd like to save this one. Please let me know.

I'll let this thread go for a few days, and if LiteCig can't exchange my PT for another ego type product I'll hang onto the battery and go hit up the battery thread. I just figured General forum was the best place to perhaps find someone that's had a similar issue in the past.

My long term solution? GLV-supermini (in about a month)!! Lmao. But I'd still like to fix my eGo.

Sometimes, having a dead ego batt around is a good thing. - I know the ~20 or so bucks to replace is a bummer, but a dead ego batt can be a handy tool. Some uses: It is the right tool for the job to insert and remove E2s from MAP tanks. Also, now and then I find a carto or an atty where the middle of the connector on the bottom wasn't inserted flush. Screwing it really tight on to a dead ego batt usually does the trick. And one more: Occasionally, I find a carto or an atty where the threads might have a burr or weren't cut just perfect. Again, screwing tightly to a dead ego batt can smooth out those problems.

Ok, so the guy at litecig told me that my warranty was up, and so I decided to dissect it. There was some loose wiring so I re-soldered that. It'll now charge via regular ego charger but no longer works as a PT. Maybe it'll fix itself, but eh. It just lost $6 in value because now (if it works after charging) It's just a regular ego batt now.

Ba-bump. I was wrong. It was the cable.

The 3 chargers that I tried were (1) the original PT cable, (2) a regular ego charger that worked, and (3) Another usb-to-mini cable that I've since determined is not powered. I think it was the data cable from one of my old cell phones, so in hindsight it wasn't designed to carry a charge.

I got a replacement PT from totally wicked and the cable that came with it worked. I suppose that this should be a lesson to anyone who uses an ego PT to go to amazon and get an extra usb-mini charging cable or wall AC to mini USB, and be gentle with the cables you have.
