I'm no expert, but I've mixed quite a bit of ejuice. I've gotten all of my PG from <one vendor> prior to this order. I just got 1,000ml PG from <a well respected vendor here> and it's thicker. Almost seems like the thickness of a 50/50 mix.
Is this normal for PG to have different thickness from different vendors?

Or maybe <the first vendor> is thinner than others? Which is fine, I just need to know as too high VG causes my wife some issues.

Thanks.

PM me if you need to know the names. I don't want to possibly give a bad look to either if they are both correct.

I am new to DIY & have only handled PG from one source. That said, PG does absorb water from the air. Cigar humidors keepers often use it as a humectant. Maybe the thicker stuff is a fresher batch &/or was keep away from moist humid air better while stored. Here is a cigar humidor page that explains more about such properties of PG.
The secret of the correct liquid or the magical effect of the propylene glycol

I would take it from reading that page that if ones PG seems runny, one can remedy that by placing(in some fashiion) the runny PG in a dry humidity condition of less than 70% to release some moisture back into the air? [seems plausible]

Interesting! Thanks mister! Maybe the new stuff is fresher?

Another thing I noticed. When I poured the new PG in a smaller bottle (250ml) I noticed tiny bubbles throughout (like I normally see only in VG, but not as many)

Do you all normally see this in pure PG? Or is PG as thin as water?

EDIT: Wait... What you are saying is that the most recent PG I recieved (thicker) may have been exposed to more air?

I think it is most likely just fresher.

It seems according to the humidor link I posted that:

If the air PG is exposed to is: above 70% humidity = PG absorbs water from the air & air below 70% causes it put water back into the air. I fear & suspect that when it gives the water back to the air under 70% it also send some PG along with it. I say that due to the line from the webpage: "propylene glycol forms a thin layer on the surface of the humidifier".

As far as the bubbles forming, I have only a little experience mixing/handling PG & simply do not recollect any bubbling that may have formed whilst pouring. My PG seems a tad thicker than water, but not much more.

Fresher? as apposed to stale?

I think the best thing to do would be to contact the vendors you have ordered from and talk to them.
PG does absorb water from the air but I doubt 1 or 2% water content would be noticeable without doing some type of viscosity test or weighing for density. (results will seem backwards for density with PG and water :)).

Set up some type of viscosity test ( I posted a device that works for me someplace) to check your liquids. Won't tell you much about the chemical content, but would answer your question.

You could expose the PG on a large surface area in a low humidity sealed chamber for a month or two and it would give up some of that water :)
