I bought 4 nemisi clones and kick modules when I was using clearomizers at home. Then one day a switch got stuck while in my hand (no clearomizer attached) and the battery heated up real fast. I pulled it apart and couldn't find anything wrong. Since thing those nemmy's have been tucked away unused and I went compleately regulated. Ilike to have several different mods set up with different flavors and lets face it 20+w regulated mods are expensive. I'm considering opening the nemmies and giving them a try on a drippper. At 0.7 ohm it works out to a perfect 20W. So I don't need regulation. Thoughts?

The better quality regulated mods are dropping in price. You can get a Sigelei 20W (.7 ohms) for $70 and a 30W (.5 ohms?) for a few dollars more. Also, the Smok BEC can be found for $90. The BEC fires down to .3 ohms and has a mech mode.

Unregulated mods, to me, are not worth the risk. Have you done anything to your Nemmies so the issue won't happen again? If you are going lower in ohms than you were with the clearos, the problem will be worse if it happens again.

I've never used a regulated device with an RDA, but I am intrigued by the possibilities. With the higher-wattage devices available now, it stands to reason that you can build to pretty much any resistance you prefer, then set the wattage to duplicate the hit on a mech with a freshly charged battery and not experience any drop-off. Or build higher resistance with higher wattage than a mech can provide. I have an ipv3 on pre-order, can't wait to experiment with it.

OTOH, the form factor and looks of a nice RDA on a sleek, polished mech mod are awesome IMO. I vape RDA/mech 95% of the time and it's going to feel strange with a box in my hand once the ipv3 arrives. We'll see how it goes!

You can get a Hana clone from Fasttech for $49 without battery or $56 with battery. They're good for 30W. I seldom go above 15W tho but I've tested them all the way up. The included battery may or not be a decent one, I got the ones without (have two of them). OTOH, if your soldering skills are anywhere decent, get the enclosure kit and the chip set. I've assembled a pair (prefer my own solder spots and to use epoxy as glue wherever needed.

I usually mount my RDAs on mechs —got several nemmy clones with switches fixed for smooth and short throw plus magnet upgrades– but generally test them for flavor and vapor with a "standard" resistance on a regulated mod to find the "sweet spot", then build accordingly for 4.0V. However, I like regulated mods to keep the power stable. Those Hana clones do a very good job and they've outlasted some other "brand" ones like a Sigelei 20 and a crappy eVic first gen which hardly worked for the duration of the warranty before giving the ghost.
