When I began to look for a model to vape a couple of months ago the general recommendation for a newbee was the 901.

Now I am beginning to see that the 510 is the model recommended most often for someone new to vaping.

If this is the case what makes it better than the 901?

I currently only own a 901 and am very happy with it. Should I consider switching, get a 510 in addition to or just stick with my 901?

    Somewhere between here and there
I have not tried the 901 but I can tell you that I love the joye510 with manual batts. I get good throat hit and lots of vapor most of the time. I have tried about 6-8 different liquids and all produce good vapor but some have more throat hit than others. If you are happy with yours, I would not worry about it. If you are looking for something more, then I would try the 510. The kits are only 40-50 on most sites. I love the pcc also as I can carry just two batteries and just switch when one goes dead and charge the dead one on the go. I don't have to worry about having a usb or wall outlet available. I have charged four batteries off of one pcc charge.

It seems like if it's a newer model and works decently then it gets lots of recommendations weather it is really superior or not. Human nature I guess, to want the latest.

Just my observation since joining the forum a couple of months ago.

When it comes to new high tech stuff I always wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation.... saves a boat load of money in the long run.

I hope for everyone's sake that the 501 is not the new 901. I received my 901 5/2 and my husbby 5/5. When it's "smokin" it's awsome. However ours spend more time "in the shop" than in use. I'm sick to death of replacing batteries, atomizers etc. Sick of recharging every 3-4 hrs, sick of always carrying liquid with me - even when I walk the dog -- I'm filling up while he's emptying out - so to speak. Most of all I'm disgusted with the shoddy service - and slow shipping by suppliers. I'm talking USA suppliers. I'm switching to a pipe. Have heard good things about the pipe batteries and atomizers lasting months not weeks. Hopefully, instead of living my life tracking the USPS numbers, I can have time to start a hobby - or get a life. In other words, the 901 has not proved to be the freedom that I'd hoped.

the 510 is far from that.....2 vaper's ,,nine weeks in and one dead atty and no dead batts.......can't even make a mod cause nothing will die

I've ordered 16 starter kits(32 cigs) and zero doa's. all the atty's tested in the same range as well

I don't disagree with you on the regular 901 but if you read many of the reviews on the pipes there have been some significant problems.

It sounds like you are ready to step up to the the premiere PV's and leave most of the hassles behind. The batteries last months, get about 6-8 hours on a charge and cost $2. I would suggest checking the best devices out:

The Big Six in Long Battery Life Manual Switch PV’s:

    Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
The Black Screwdriver Kit / Totally Wicked eLiquid / Electronic Cigarette e-liquid shop
Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!
    GG: THE GG
    JantyStick: Janty USA
LV/ZiMoshi:Personal Vaporizers : Hardass Vapor Shop
Super T: Super T, Innovative manufacturer of Personal Vaporizer products.

Well I only have the 510 and haven't tried a 901 yet, but I don't have any trouble tasting the flavors unless I vape too consistently through the day. When that happens, sometimes I think my tastebuds get burned out and I can't taste any of the flavors by the end of the day. Also, I'm starting to think Loranne's flavoring increases the chances of this effect. Pre-flavored juices don't seem to lose flavor, but anything I mix with Loranne's seems to about halfway through the day. I'm still a beginner though, relatively. I'll probably give the manual 901 a try, especially if they come out with a PCC. As it stands, I love my 510 so I'm going to try to stick with compatible parts until I have enough built up to start experimenting elsewhere.
