Is the eGo-T really maddeningly terrible?

I have the ego-T as well. I am not the best tinkerer, but I already modded mine with the blue foam on day one. This helped the tanks hold liquid better...also helped with distribution of the liquid to the wick I think. Honestly, even if your attys go out once every two weeks or per month, they're so darned cheap it's not a big deal. I saw a packaged deal for $46.95...ten 510 attys. That's at least a 4 & 1/2 month supply for $50 if they go out every two weeks. Plus the e-juice is cheap too. Even if all the items are regularly replaced once per month or so, it will be way less then the $150-180 it costs for a pack of smokes every day for that month. Maybe this is just because I smoke a good bit...but seems totally worth it to get the ego-T...do moderate maintenance and just replace parts as they go out and not worry about breaking apart a $5.00 atty when it finally does go out after a while.

I read a lot of reports about people busting their attys almost immediately. The place I ordered mine from gave me great directions on how to get it going and I just drip a drop of juice on the atty and screw in a new cart and I haven't had problems so far. I"m sure I will soon, but that's why the attys are so darn cheap.

So let me ask this question then.. I am looking at the various cartos available. Cartos are meant to be disposable? What's the lifespan of a dual coil cartomizer, or LR carto?? If I'm paying $2.50 for one, or $10 for a pack of 5, and I'm throwing them away after a couple days, doesn't that amount to the same cost as a 510-T atty ? I guess I'm a bit fuzzy on the whole cartomizer thing.

I've been vaping on and off since late March. I ordered an eGo-T kit in early June to get serious about vaping and finally cut out analogs completely (almost there). I'd previously been using cartridges and dripping. For the first week it was fantastic. An eGo-T with a brand new atty is a wonderful thing. The problem is, even with regular rinsing and cleaning, the eGo-T atomizers were only lasting a week tops, with the last one lasting 4 days. I've read about all the various methods for cleaning and maintaining the attys, and some of them border on heroic effort, more than I really want to put into it.

Finally, last weekend, I dug out a box of Boge low resistance cartomizers I'd bought a while back. I didn't have a great experience with the first one, but I'm chalking it up to being a dud and me being a novice. I tried another one and was in heaven again. I also just tried the Smoktech dual-coil atty and it may actually be better than the Boge.

I really want to love the eGo-T, but for me it comes down to basic math. I can spend between $8-$13 on the eGo-T attys, and expect a week out of them without major maintenance. On the other hand, I can get Boge cartomizers for $6.50-$10 for 5, and even if each one only lasts a week, I'm out $1.30-$2 instead of $8-$13, with no maintenance aside from not letting the carto dry burn.

I switched from 510 to the Ego-T. The Ego-T smoked pretty well, but the flavor is not as good as the 510 attys. Severe leaking developed after a couple of weeks, but I think this was resolved with some silicone caps I got from CigNot. Also, the Ego-T draw gets tough pretty quick, using VG or PG. LOVE the 900 mA battery, lasts all day - I put a fresh one on in the morning when I leave for work, then switch to a fresh when I get home and charge the morning one. I read on one of the ECF forums that the Echo-E carto works very will on the Ego-T battery with regard to taste and (no) leaking, so I have ordered some and will see what happens.

I got my Echo-E cartomizers yesterday and so far am very happy. The throat hit is consistent and strong. Not quite sure about the flavor retention yet, still trying different juices. But on one of them I think the 510 atty delivered a better flavor.

Performance and integrity is superior to the Ego-T with regard to draw, throat hit, taste. No leaking so far into atty or stem. Very easy draw for a good, solid throat hit. It is almost too good - I think I almost got nicotine poisoning today lol.

Have I found the perfect combo after two years of vaping (Blu to Joye 510 to Ego-T to Echo-E)? I hope I am not dreaming.

Well, we'll see how long the cartos last and/or how well they clean up. But things are definitely looking up!

At first the ego-T was horrible...loaded with that primer oil that took forever to clean out. Then it was great...kinda. Then it started leaking big time. Then I packed it up.

Eventually, I used the batteries with cartos. Things started looking good. Now I use the 1000 mAh batteries with the 2 ohm Boge cartos and I am a happy camper.

I just wish I could get more than one day out of my cartos. I'm about to start trying higher PG mixes. Been reluctant to do this because I do like flavor and I know the PG can knock down the taste but, as they say, life is a series of compromises.

I despise the eGo-T with a passion. Once a switched to cartos and then to dual coil cartos I got rid of everything eGo-T except the batteries. The vapor is super cold and I could never get it to work right.

This is pretty much what I did. And I really tried to like the tanks, too. I went through 7 A-type attys and 4 B-types. I did get some leakage but nothing too severe (only when I flooded the atty through primer puffs) but the vapor production and flavour were always anemic. I switched to the dual coils and never looked back.

I really haven't noticed that PG knocks down the flavor. In fact, in some cartos like the dual coil cartos I get much more flavor with PG than a PG/VG mix. And it does make the cartos last forever. When I was using the tanks I was using all PG juice. It was nhalers juice and his PG juice isn't thin like some PG juices are.

I'm quite happy with the eGo T system. I like it better than using cartomizers.

A cartomizer needs to be refilled almost constantly, which is fine if you're going to sit at home and vape, but not so fine when you actually go out and do things. I get more leaks with cartomizers than with the tanks. And with cartomizers, juice is always getting into the air hole and I get a gurgling sound and end up tasting juice. Yuck.

So I like the tank system much better.

Depends on the cartomizer. A standard-sized cartomizer, sure. But you can get cartos that hold up to around 4.5ml of juice (the EMDCC). I love my EMDCC. It literally lasts me more than a full day on a single fill. I top up in the morning, and I'm still going at bed time. My battery runs out of juice before the EMDCCs do.

I don't know why tanks don't deliver as much flavor as regular fat batt PVs but that's my gripe. Oh, and the leaking.

Higher resistance attys and less surface area coverage on the coil by the wick would be my guess; those tank wicks are fussy buggers. The new LR tank attys probably work better, but they were just too much of a pain in the .... to deal with.

Personally if I were picking an eGo tank system today, I'd get the eGo-W from GotVapes. They use the Sapphire hybrid tanks that apparently work quite well. They seem fussy to fill though, but easier to deal with overall than regular tanks.
