Is the Patriot a good rebuildable dripper?

I love the Patriot!

I just got mine on Black Friday, and its my first real dripping atomizer. Guy at my shop built a nice .32ohm dual coil, and it hits amazing! I can put about 20 drops or so on this bad boy and get a bunch of toots out of it. Unfortunately it is a little pricey, luckily I got mine for only $40 because it was Black Friday, but its normally $75-$80. If you've got the dough, I say go for it. I can't put this thing down.

It will be my first RDA... should I start out with the octopus or something like it?

VapinLisa, the Patriot is a very good RDA. Do not be dissuaded because of the cost. If you have the money to spend on vaping gear, there is no reason to forgo it if you really like it. With drippers, the vape is pretty much dependent on the coil you wrap. The more expensive ones like the Patriot are usually machined better and easier to build than something like an igo.

That said, there are plenty of good RDAs under $20. The iGo, the Smoktech Octopus, and I especially like the A7.

you don't need to start with an octopus. but i would recommend a cheaper option than $80 for something you may not like. the full sized octopus is leaky its got a air hole in the base.. the mini octopus just has an air hole in the side of the housing. it can still leak but only if you tip it up side down. i dont recommend a full sized octopus. you need a digital volt and ohm meter. you can pick one up for under $20. after you build your coil you must check it for shorts and ohms. if you dont know what your doing you could "vent" or explode a battery. after you build your coil lets say you aimed for a 1.8 ohm coil and your meter says its .2 ohms this tells me that you have a short. then you look for coils touching one another or coils touching the posts. when you hook the probes up the meter reading might jump around for a second before it holds steady this is normal but if the reading keeps jumping around after about 3-5 seconds you have a loose connection or short. and you need to figure out what is causing that.

batteries have a max amp rating. if you exceed the rating the battery could vent. using ohms law you can figure how low of a resistance you can achieve with a given battery most people suggest running half the amp rating.. So A battery that is rated for 10 amps would be safe to run at 5 amps

Pretty much this. It does matter more how you build on it but the Patriot is pretty awesome. If you are not sure about building then start off with something like IGO-W. It's pretty cheap and good to practice building on.

The Patriot is a very well made RDA. I would buy one myself, if I could justify the expense right now (well, justify it to the wife). The Omega is nice as well.

I own two IGO-W's and a Nimbus Clone. If you've never used an RDA before, my advice would be to start with the IGO-W. It's an easy build, and does dual-coils. Get some 28g Kanthal, if you don't have some already, and start with that and cotton balls for wick.

The Patriot RDA is a great dripper. I own one myself. The quality is superb, made in the USA! :)

It was my first high end dripper, definitely not cheap. However, looking back on it, I would have spent the money on a dripper with adjustable airflow (IMO, this should be standarized) and something more compact for a little extra flavor, my personal preference.

When you have airflow control, its another ball game.

I currently drip on a Atomic RDA by MCV Philippines (a bit more expensive) and love it to death!
