Is there a connection here...or is my imagination working overtime?

I really like carto tanks...been using them going on 2 years now. Way back in early 2012 I did use some of the 3ml. type carto tanks (the skinny ones that look good on an eGo) I remember there was something going on back then with the tanks where I got fed up with them after awhile and switched to EMSCCs. After a couple of months I did go back to carto tanks...but used the 5 or 6 ml. size since I was using bigger mods by then. ANYway...I love the bigger tanks and have had no real issues with the vast majority of them!

Now my situation: recently I got a Smok e-pipe. Cutest lil thang. Kinda steam punk. I really never thought I'd be interested in a pipe...but I guess I had a sudden urge to try "something different". Anyway, so I got some of the 3ml. skinny carto tanks to use with it. Everything is fine for awhile...and the small tank looks cool on the pipe with a long tip on it. BUT...the carto seems to wear out REALLY fast. It still fires, but it starts taking on a muted, "used" taste much faster than I've experienced using the big tanks. Like in maybe a day. Which is not good.

I admit I vape HEAVY. Chain vaper. I sit around at home all day and am depressed a lot (lotta stuff going down in my life right now)...so my chosen vice to cheer myself up is vaping. I generally run through around 10ml. a day (3.5mg. nic). Easily. I use the same juice and same brand cartos. I use 2ohm with the mechs like the pipe, and 3ohm with VV. I usually can get between 3 and 7 days use from my cartos in the 6ml. tanks...but only a DAY with the 3ml. tanks? Why?

My theory is that because I vape so heavy...the larger tank surrounds the carto with more fluid, keeping things a bit cooler in there...thus prolonging the carto's life. Does that sound viable? Anyone else got any theories here...or is it all "in my head"?

Dunno fourth... I really have no clue on that. To me, it would seem that the actual quantity of vliquid in the tank would not matter too much. Is it possible that there is just more available to the carto because of that quantity and the fact that perhaps you don't refill the 3ml tanks as often (as one 'should')? Again, I'm of no help. I actually subscribe to the theory that smaller tanks are better (for me) as I like to replenish the tank with fresher liquid more often. And I vape MANY devices so I don't care to have huge quantities of vliquid just sitting around lonely in all my tanks.

All that said, could it be all in your head? Perhaps, perhaps not! Chime in, carto tank peeps. :)

Are your cartos pre-punched, or pre-slotted, or are you punching them yourself? I get much better flavor from laser slotted cartos.

I have tried both pre-punched and ones I've punched myself. Two holes. I thought about the feed factor too..and my home made punches are bigger so I thought it might help. Didn't. Don't have any laser slotted cartos.

My juice is really thin. Almost "watery". Very free flowing. It's a DIY menthol that I mix with 85% PG and 15% VG.

Also to Katdarling: I think I know what you're saying. I'm good about refilling the tanks (either size) before the juice even gets to where the holes are exposed at all. I guess I refill when it's about 2/3 to 3/4 empty. Thereabouts.

Oh...lol...and unlike you I have juice all over the place. Right now I have a full Vmod XL in rotation, a 3/4 full 6ml. tank on my Trixie, a full 3ml. tank on my Bogger and a half full 6ml. on the e-pipe. I've been switching around between them all a lot. Changing things up.

Probably not a flow problem then. Slotted cartos would probably flow too much with juice that thin. I tend to vape 50/50, 70/30, and 100 VG, so slots work great for me.

I am also using one of the slotted by laser cartos, but it is specifically for a tank that notoriously has not been feeding well. I REALLY like these cartos! But only for that particular tank.

LOL fourth! If you could only see the number of devices with full toppers on them over here. It's CRAZY I tell ya! :D By FAR more than the few you mentioned.

Step One. Admit it. I looooooooove vapin'! :thumb:

I wouldn't think the carto would care what size tank it is in. Beggars can't be choosy. :D

Ah. So you are saying it IS in my imagination!? Haha! Or maybe I just happened to pick a couple of the rare duds in my pile of 2ohm cartos. But I have noticed, whether in my head or not, that the carto I'm using now on my pipe...which is in a 5ml Smok pyrex tank...is holding up good, still. I dunno. Go figure!
