It's not easy.
Best is to return it for warranty if u can.
Ego batteries should have more stuffing in them to prevent movement of internal parts.
What's likely happening is the ground wire that attaches to the bottom cap has likely disconnected hence ur probs.
Ive opened a few batteries now and I don't think I could disassemble one without ruining it or marking the outside up cause a had to use pliers to separate the pieces.
If ur warranty is up I guess it won't hurt to try.
Be careful though as u can short the battery out and that can lead to sparks/fire/explosion.

My question is, how is it seperated, do i pry open the bottom, or do i take it from the top (where the button is). Im assuming it's the top, and if it is, does it twist off, or is it wedged in there (requiring a wiggle out).

also is there anything i should be careful with, like short wires on the top or whatever. Also when i get it all apart will it go back together, or will i need glue, etc. to make sure it stays sturdy?

I got a 60 day warranty card with it, and it's still under warranty, i think, from ego, but when i contacted the seller he only had a 14 day return policy so idk what to do. warranty is about 37 days in (based on the card that came with the package)

totally bummed that this is such bad workmanship.. first e-cig and i'm thinking i jumped into a sea of rip-off artists.
