Odds are it's enabled boardwide, I've never seen a user enabled profanity filter. Not saying it doesn't exist, but I haven't ever seen one before. Someone will confirm this that the VB software is boardwide soon. I am new and assume it's set up that way but I could be mistaken.
on almost all the other forums i've been on with filters this seems to be one of the few without the option to turn it off in the user cp... seems kinda odd and well... sorta ....'d up to have a forum that should be full of nothing but ppl over 18 having this kind of thing on it

To many people, "adult" means "mature", not "profane". This is the largest e-cig forum in the world, and some view it as the "face" of e-cigs, where many go for information. As such, we should try and be accomodating to everyone, and not everyone likes to come to a forum to read profanity-laden posts.
That being said, there are other ecig forums out there that allow such things. This is not one of them.
btw.. just to get this across.. i'm not trying to start anything by this.. it's just a little bit of me getting .... off my chest about life's little annoyances

It dumbs down a statement - there's no need for it. Trust me I'm no "Goody-Goody" but when one uses profanity to get a point across they are just using "filler." Their credibility can be lost very quickly.

The great thing about this forum (rules you don't agree with aside) is that people here actually want to help others out. There's no 'omg u noob go do research ya nub' posts and no ripping new members apart for not knowing abbreviations or info, or being unable to absorb 3 tetrabytes of information in 10 seconds flat. There's no cliques and not a lot of nasty arguing back n forth.

ya, i've noticed that about this place... not much in the way of .......s here when it comes to showing ppl the ropes and really any general question ppl have gets at least a few good answers
