I did my version of a "scientific" test when I cleaned my TV screen for the first time after only vaping in my home. AMAZING! I've never had the cloth come up so clean!!! Can't say exactly what the difference is, or is not, but since I've never exhaled anything directly on the TV, it sure proves to me the air quality in this house is much improved. . . for all.

That smell had to the the worst! Yuck!

I've repainted practically every room in the house, rewashed all my clothes, had the car detailed. I even took everything out of my closets and repainted my closets.

I should take my husband to the doctor to check out his nasal passages. Either he's a saint, or he lost his sense of smell years ago.

GoochMan, does your house have a finished or semi-finished basement where your kids spend any significant amount of time? I would suggest your kids may be exposed to radon, which is the leading cause of lung cancer deaths in never-smokers, which presumably your kids are.

Radon is a colorless, odorless, heavy gas which accumulates in places with limited air circulation, such as basements. It is radioactive and results from the decay of uranium, radium and other radioactive elements in the bedrock -- New Jersey lies above moderate concentrations of radioactives.

There is a fairly inexpensive test available for radon. But repairing your basement and foundation to exclude it might be expensive.

You can't be too careful these days . . .

Did you see the links I posted? That should make you feel a bit better. Obviously you need to do what makes you feel comfortable, but it's my understanding from that post and from the two studies cited that it's fairly minimal.
Obviously we don't know 100% because it's fairly new, but we don't know 100% about anything. Remember when coffee and eggs were bad for you? Now they're OK again.:)

I don't vape in front of my kids because I don't want them the least bit tempted by the yummy flavors. I never smoked around them, but once in a while, they found me hidden outside. They knew it stunk, and they knew it was gross. But this? There's no way I can say that something that smells and tastes like warm brownies is disgusting. For that reason alone, vaping around kids is an absolutely no no for me. I refuse to pass this addiction along to my children.

I'll trust you on the eggplant. Not one of my fav veggies.

This one...

"the absorption rate in smoke is 99%"

I'm confused about. Does this mean that 99% of the Nicotine in an analog is Absorbed by the Body?

Yes, exactly.

which is part of why analogs are so addicting... the Lungs are the perfect receptor for Nicotine.

And this step.

"0.18mg x 0.01 (1%)"

Is this impling a 1% Absorption rate?

no... this gives you the 1% that is NOT absorbed. (thus exhaled)

I know this study says we really get next to no nicotine, but I haven't read any others yet. Granted this is not long term use, but if the inhaler isn't getting any, I would think 2nd hand isn't either.

Virginia Commonwealth University Study of Electronic Cigarettes by Dr. Eissenberg | The Electronic Cigarette & E-Cigarettes by Instead

I'm thinking there is a flaw or two in that study...

were the Vapers vaping properly(slow long draws) or where they taking drags like cigs?

what type of unit were they vaping?

etc.

because if we get almost no nicotine:

why does this work for many, when gum doesn't?
why is it possible to get to much nicotine and feel nauseous?

Gotcha... Man. We sure are Absorbing a Lot of Nicotine.

I know someone who vapes about 5ml a Day of 36mg e-Liquid. With this Near 100% Absorption Rate Everyone is talking about he is taking in roughly 180mg of Nicotine a Day.

I wonder How much Nicotine is absorbed by Smoking One Analog? 1.0mg, 2.0mg?

Have I been smoking wrong all these years? Slow long draws is exactly what I've always done with cigs. Get as much smoke as possible into my mouth, then suck it all into my lungs in one big, satisfying hit. I guess I have noticed that when I'm with a group of smokers, everyone else takes almost twice as long to finish one as I do.....

This is purely anecdotal and just my own personal experience. I smoked 30+ years. I used to kid myself and say I smoked a pack a day but probably closer to 1 1/2-2 pks. I won't go into details but I have a very addictive personality. I couldn't quit with patches, pills gum.

I vape 24 mg. maybe 1-2 mls a day. I could easily go all day not vaping. I do half the time because I misplace my pv all day long. It doesn't bother me. I don't get huge nicotine cravings. Obviously when I smoked I could go several hours of not smoking when I had to but the thought of having a cig was always in my head and it was the first thing I did when I could.

This is just my own personal opinion but I don't think I get anything remotely close to the amount of nic I got when I smoked. My nicotine addiction is a fraction of what it used to be. That's just me though.

IMO, this reasoning is the only good argument for not vaping in front of children.

The secondhand vape issue as it pertains to affecting others health is just should not be a concern when one stops to consider the trace amounts of nic that can possibly be absorbed by others in all but the most closed in environments. Perhaps, such as a car with the windows up for extended periods of time? Even then, is there really any harm from nic in trace amounts anyway?

Common sense would suggest that the flavorings inhaled by exposure to second hand vape would be exponentially less than say baking a cake, or toasting Pop Tarts which are loaded with artificial flavorings.
