Is this a good first ejuice purchase?

Tim got his first ecig in last week. It's an E9(KR808D-2) from e-cig.com. (yes, I know, not a great retailer... live and learn!)
He liked it initially, but hasn't really had a chance to try it out as he ODed on nicotine his second day. He was vaping in the car on a 36mg carto.

So we need more cartos and juice for refilling and trying out different flavors and nic densities. This looks like a pretty good deal, but I'm just not sure...

LeCig LeLiquid - D2 Tasting Kit - 11mg Strength

Pros:
It's definitely more cost effective than ordering these items separately (from this supplier) and it's like you get the syringes for free, basically.
Free Shipping

Cons:
The juice is Dekang... I've heard quality and safety is iffy on these. (Online consultant said they will have USA made in 2 weeks, but we need to make an order now)
It's not set up to give me a variety of nic strengths.

What do you think? Is this a good buy? If not, can you point me to a better one?
We do intend to get into DIY juice eventually, if there is a good starter kit for that it might be a better way to go as long as it isn't too pricey.

Also, I have a few questions on cartos:
If we plan to refill, is it better to get blanks or pre-filled?
Are blanks made of sturdier stuff?
Is it fine to fill a tobacco flavored carto with a different tobacco flavor?
And can anyone point me to a softcap carto that will work for the E9?

Thanks!

Looking at the kit I would go elsewhere. The price is a bit high for 10 carto's and 3 bottles of juice. I wouldn't use the syringes anyway. It's cheaper to buy blanks and fill them yourself. They're the same carto's whether they're filled or blank. I switch freely between tobacco juices without worrying about it, in a carto you put that much juice when you refill that it overwhelms the little that was left from the last flavor, that's my opinion anyway. I'm not familiar with KR8stuff but someone who is will chime in I'm sure.

Haven't seen reviews of LeCig juice. Dekang is dekang. I have some I like but prefer others.
Have a look at goodprophets dot com. He has cartos with soft tips.
He ships super fast and has US made juice. If you are going to DIY, he has 36mg US made juice on sale for 11.99 for 30ml - add some PG/VG to it and is becomes weaker flavor but twice the juice and now at 18mg.
I like his juice. It is clean, super vapor, good TH, nice flavor and not chemical tasting.

Good luck in your search. Going from 36mg to 11mg may not give you enough nic to start out.
You can refill cartos again and again. Blanks are the way to go so you have the taste you like and not starting out with some questionable stuff.
You can fill cartos with any combination of flavors you like.

That does not seem like a good deal to me. You can clean and reuse the cartos. There is a video on youtube by nilius and that is the method that I use, but there are others out there that may work better for you.

I would suggest that you look at sample bottles from other vendors. I have gotten stuff from mrs. t's bakery, freedomsomkeusa, and gourmet vapors. I like them all.

As far as your equipment goes, I have the kr808d-1 so I am not familiar with what you have.

If two people are using the same equipment I would definitely get more blank cartos.

I am no veteran, and since I do not have an 808D (I Have a few 501''s my wife and I share) I have a question:

Can you use an atomizer, or only a cartomizer. Cartomizers are made to throw away after 2 to 4 uses, depending on who you talk to. The atomizers (I got a 5 pack at Totally Wickid, and they shipped fast)

Through much trial and error, I am using the lipton pyramid teabag mod (find it on youtube) It works so much better, and so far, I have been able to reuse them a few times, but the tea bags are cheap. 4 bucks for 20.

My atomizers from TW (they were a little longer than the ones my vapor king came with) came with slightly longer carts, so the carts that came with my ecig need to be used with the original atomizers which will not last forever.

I would get a couple of packs of empty carts along with a few atomizers they will fit. (call the retailer directly so you get the right carts for the atomizers)

Watch the u tube video on cleaning atomizers with alcohol. As far as e juice, I myself would not buy the prefilled carts, but if you get cartomizers I guess you can get them filled or empty. I still like the atomizer better with separate carts. Some may disagree with me and I am sure they will chime in.

If you like sweeter juices, I recommed Geoffs blend at Tasty Vapor, and also Cherry Cola. Both Awesome. Order added sweetner if you want sweet.

Then yesterday, I ordered the following samples (In my opinion way better than cartomizers prefilled, and as you can see I will end up with more variety at a similar cost. (ok so about 20 bucks more. I ordered these from freedomsmokesusa.

By the way, Wyatt Erp Cowboy Blend at FSUSA (If you are looking for a satisfying tobacco flavor, and Tasty Vapor Cherry Cola or Waffle have been hands down some of the most recommended flavors. There are a few others escaping me.

I would suggest getting a couple of different strengths of juice. As stated above 11mg may not be enough. 36mg is very high, 11mg is pretty low. If you get some 11,18, and 24 in flavors that go together then if the 11 is too low you can mix it with the higher strength. So if you got 11mg peppermint and 24mg chocolate, you could make 18mg peppermint patty. Flavors like chocolate and vanilla, go well with a lot of other flavors. What ever kinds of flavors you enjoy you can think in terms of flavor schemes. This is the fun of DIY. Most of the things that we enjoy the taste of contain more than 1 pure flavor. So I might be thinking I want a creamy, maybe buttery, sweet spearmint. What do I need to mix in order to get that to happen. There is a DIY forum on this site with loads of helpful information to read and nice people to help with questions.

I also bought the e9 and I'm ok with it. I like to use blank cartomizers and fill them with my own juice. After vaping a cartomizer for a few days, you can clean them out by boiling them. I boil them for 15 minutes, then rinse, then boil again for 15 minutes. They last a long time and work well. You can also do this with the pre-filled cartomizers. I had quite a few pre-filled that i thought tasted horrible from them, so I boiled em out.

We intend to order either a 501 or a KR808D-1 (probably the latter) soon and will get some atomizers to try out then. But the E9 has only auto batteries and I'm not sure there's an atomizer that will even fit it.
But thanks for showing me how the prices work out on FreedomsmokesUSA... I was planning on ordering from them eventually, may as well try it now!

Cool! Maybe we can do that with those 36mg cartos so they won't go to waste.

Well, I ended up just ordering the cartos from LeCig. 5 prefilled and 5 blank.
Then I ordered juice from FreedomsmokeUSA:
1 x Wyatt Earp Signature Cowboy Blend
- Flavor: MLB
- Milliliters: 5
- Nicotine: 12mg $4.00
1 x Tobacco flavor - Max/Boro Ultimate
- Milliliters: 10
- Nicotine: 12mg
- pg/vg: 90%pg-10% vg $6.00
1 x RY4 Pre-Mixed
- Milliliters: 5
- Nicotine: 12mg $4.00
1 x Almond Joy Pre-Mixed
- Milliliters: 10
- Nicotine: 0mg $6.00
1 x Almond Joy Pre-Mixed Sampler
- Milliliters: 3
- Nicotine: 24mg $2.25
1 x Wins/Ton Signature Tobacco Blend Sampler
- Milliliters: 3
- Nicotine: 24mg
- pg/vg: 50%pg50%vg $2.25
5 x 6ml Bottle $1.75
1 x 5ml syringe w/ blunt 18 gauge needle
- Quantity: 1 $1.39

Total spent: about $47
That's about what he ends up spending on "analogs" in a months time... hopefully this will last us about a month and give us a good idea of what we need in terms of flavors and nic level. Next time maybe we'll be able to bigger bottles and really save some $$$!

Thanks for all the advice!
