I know there has probably been talk about this but I could not find it after a quick scan ... I was looking for more batteries for my SB and ran across these ...

What say the jury?

Ultrafire 3.6V 880mah Protected Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery RCR123A CR123A 16340 CR16340 (as low as) $3.25!

Ultrafire 3.6V 880mah Protected Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery RCR123A CR123A 16340 CR16340

i think you can use those but with a HV atty. The HV atty will drop the voltage back down to around 5v so your in the sweet spot with the higher mah battery. i wld wait till somebody that can second that. I think im correct but dont take my word for it.

I have been using these for two days now; drove up to batteryjunction the day I got my SB. I have had NO issues at all.

I have no idea how people keep popping addys, buring carts, etc. I don't think I could pop an addy or burn a cart if I tried with this thing. I would have to do something really stupid. Will post a review soon but I have no idea how so many people have problems vaping at HV. I was ready for a nightmare based on all the posts about HV and after getting a SB and trying HV I am wondering how people mess it up.

Keep your addy wet, if it gets too hot then put it down. Used 3-5 second bursts and you will be fine. It’s really not that hard.

At first I was slightly disappointed with the amount of vapor I get, but then again I expected to be blown off my ... by this thing. I think 6v brings out the flavor in the juice (unlike what other people say) and has just the right amount of vapor; defiantly not TOO MUCH vapor.

I also tried 123a's and did not have problems but they cost too much to just waste in a PV. I think most of these problems with HV vaping are total user error.

Again, unless my SB is broken, I cannot understand all the issues. I wiped off the connectors with alcohol and made sure the spring was tight, which it was. Am I missing something? I do get a little more vapor then my 3.7v protégé and again, the flavor is better but I am not totally blown away or anything. I would say it was just right, which is why I am not complaining, but again expected much more from a HV device. This is my first. I don't really think anything is wrong, just that all the posts here made me think this thing would take master vaping skills not to blow it up and billow unsmokable clouds of vapor but it’s not the case.

In summary, IMO you can use these batteries. For $30 you get a car/wall charger and 4 batteries, which is a great value. I am getting 3.5 hours of moderate vaping out of the exact ones above, but the batteries have not been broken in and expect about 4 hours after the first few charges. The low voltage protection works great and shut the batteries down when the voltage got too low. One minute the thing was working and the next it totally stopped; recharged the batteries and it worked great again. That’s how the protection is supposed to work.

I don't know man. I'd ask Chad on that one. My SB @ 6v is a vapor monster. HUGE difference over the 18650 3.7 batts. So much more vapor, that I can't vape anything over 18mg cuz it makes me dizzy I get so much nic. Don't get me wrong, it's great @ 3.7v too. But my analog cravings are best handled @ 6v.

One of my suppliers accidentally gave ma a couple HV attys. They look almost the same, but have a SS ring around & below the bridge. These attys do perform better @ HV. A reg. atty still performs well, but the HV atty just hits that sweet spot all the way around.

Might wanna snag a few on your next order & check them out.

Hmm, how did I overlook this one. Have a few questions. What atomizer are you using with these batteries? Have you tried it with the 18650? Be sure to depress the button fully. What voltage do the batteries read after charging? Let me know

Probably because I ramble and usually post things that fall under "tl/dr".

510 Totally Wicked Atomizer.
3.6~3.7 on each RCR123
3.7 steady on the 18650

I love the SB with RCR123. Now that I have tried it with 18650 a little more I am finding that it is possible to burn the ejuice if you are not carful. Even though the 18650 is less volts then the 2x RCR123's I remember reading a post somewhere on this forum about how the 18650 pushes out more amps. I know amps are related to battery life and this should not make a difference but it seems to have some effect. Also I think that I may be holding the button down longer with the 18650's trying to get the same vapor as I am getting with the RCR123. I do not get enough vapor with the 801 that is 100% for sure. I have tried with both batts and the 801 is just not cutting it for me like it did with the 801 pen style battery.

Again, please don’t take this as a complaint or insult, the SB is the best PV I have used and works amazing with RCR123’s. It’s just by all the posts on HV vaping issues I figured I would have more problems then what I am having. The amount of vapor is perfect but again not too much like other people are saying. This is not a bad thing, I would not want too much; rather I was just shocked at the people who said they had problems with too much vapor.

I would like to point out that I am 6’6” and 260 lbs. I am told I have a huge lung capacity every time I go to test during every yearly FD SCBA recert.

When comparing to the Protégé, I think I should clarify that I meant with the USB cable which is 5v before atomizer resistance.

Now that the RCR123’s are broken in more I am seeing a slight performance improvement out of them with slightly more vapor production. Is it better then the 5V USB Protégé? Probably a little better now; yes. The fact that the SB switch is not a POS like the Protégé switch makes all the difference. Again, by far the SB is the best PV I have owned.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
