Won't having in a can make it run hotter?

Maybe a couple of degrees. Not enough to create any issues.

Also, I just wanted to add some more info. Even when you put it in an ammo can, you just lower the lid. You don't seal it. If a battery vents, the pressure easily has somewhere to go(it will just blast the gas out the unsealed lid), but it wont have enough force to flip the lid wide open(unless it is a bigger lipo). It really just contains any blast or gunk that may become present in the case of a catastrophic vent. That is the main reason I run it with my lipos for my rc truck. I have had one vent in the can one time before. It was a very worn out 11.1v 4800mah lipo. Even with that size battery, the lid didn't flip open. Charred the inside of the can pretty good and made the basement awful smoky, but nothing in the surrounding area was damaged. I put a bunch of fans in the vent windows and the basement was cleared up overnight.
