Hello, New vaper here, trying to make my coils on RBAs & RDAs.

I've been using this coil for 2-3 days (around 7 ml). Pictures taken right after dry burn. I've tried to clean it using cloth and toothbrush but this is the best it can get.

Is this coil rust?

I've watched Rip Trippers video about cleaning the coils (Vaping E-Cigs Cleaning Your Gunky Coils! - YouTube) but I've had no success on making my coils look that clean after dry burning.

Thank you for your answers.

It's actually coil schmeg. Dry burning coils is very inefficient. The vape is never the same. I put in a new one. People vape on gear well beyond its use. Imho.
Sorry, but that's like throwing away a pair of boots 'cause you got 'em muddy. :2c:

I agree, the vape is not quite the same after a dry burn & rinse as it is on a brand-new coil, but it's as good or better than that brand new coil is after it's vaporized just a few ml of juice.

Looks like heat discoloration. This is normal for a lightly used coil.

Next time you take it apart, it`l be a little darker. Then it may go to a nice gun blued color, but then it goes black as the pitting starts to build up.

Here`s a picture of a nice "blued" coil from the heat.

Now after several months of use,
they are black as coal.

I'm not sure how useful a Kayfun build photo compared to a photo of a coil that fits in an RDA you didn't make is. Unless you are ofc Dr Seiko.

The coil looks fine to me.

Urr, its my coil. I am Dr Seiko. One reason I took to advanced PV`s so easily was that I already work with little tiny springs all day.

I posted it to show that coils go through color changes over a short period of time from the heat cycle, starting with the slight browning that`s going on with the OP`s coil. Just like rainbow coloring steel (or Ti) with a torch, coils do the same thing. But ofc, all my coils are black now, :?)

That looks fine, mine get all kind of funky before i rebuild them. i used one till it finally snapped to see how long it would last- 12 weeks!
I usually rebuild out of boredom every couple of days, I have no life. I rewick whatever over used either when the tank is empty or after a day or two of use in an rda- I'm ocd on through cleanliness. But so long as through coil is heating evenly from the middle out It should be good.

Yeah. You can get a couple couple months out of a coil. I just rewick and dry burn as well. That colour looks fine.

Disagree strongly. The wire is spent and the coil rot is there to stay. Cleaning coils is a waste of time. I have 50 in my coil box at any given time.

I've got coils on my kayfuns that have been there since late July/early August. they still vape fine. They've been dry-burned, rinsed, and re-wicked probably 10 times each. Maybe more. They're not shiny at all, but who cares what they look like; they vaporize eliquid and that's their job.
