Is this kit good for a beginner?

Hey guys
My friend Marcus just ordered a Wismec Rx2 21700 and a Freemax Mesh Pro from the internet. He is quite new to vaping and he did not ask me if this was a good choice :'D
My question is: Is the Rx2 21700 still a good choice even if it is at least 8 months released? Does it have a good quality? For the Freemax I already have found out that it is one of the best tanks of 2018.

Cheers

If your friend is new to vaping going straight to a high power direct lung lots of cloud tank like the Freemax may not work. Most prefer something with a tighter draw that is closer to a smoking experience. There are some new vapers who like starting out with a DL type tank, but it's not the average. The mod will power just about any tank so your friend could get it and use a more starter mtl type tank like the Zenith and still have the ability to use something like the Freemax mesh on it down the road.

It's also a fairly big mod. If your friend plans on taking it around with him then he should know that there are quality smaller mods out there that can still meet his needs.

Thank you for your answer :) He told me that he tried to vape MTL but rather prefers a DTL tank. Maybe he should get a Uwell Crown IV? Or the tank of the Uwell Nunchaku kit? He literally just searched for a good DTL premade coil tank and ordered this after the reviews recommended it.

I am more worried about the mod. Except for the size (maybe a gen3 dual had been better), is the RX2 a good mod? Is it made of good quality? Or should he rather take a Gen3 dual like me?

The mod will be fine as long as your friend likes it. I have the Gen 2 that is 18650 specific and it's still a legit box. As long as he enjoys the fit in his hand it'll be perfect. Since he just started out he probably won't stick to just that mod and will probably fiddle around with different ones until he finds the perfect tank/mod combination.

I also think so. I found out that there is a Rx2 20700 and a 21700. Which battery type is "better"? I mean the 21700 is 1mm wider. Can I use a 20700 in the 21700 by wrapping it up? :)

Sorry, I am a classic 18650 user lol

That's a good question. I wouldn't personally use a battery the manufacture doesn't specifically call out as compatible. That's just me. I have all 18650 mods except for 1 squonk box that takes a single 21700. I remember reading a while back that 18650's were never meant for the uses we use them for, they were designed for battery packs and electric cars and such. I can't remember if it was 20700 or 21700s were supposed to replace 18650s as a better and safer alternative or not. It may have been another set of numbers I can't remember now.

The batteries are so closely shaped that they are often referred to together a 2x700. A 21700 will often even fit in a 20700 mod though it’s isually quite tight. A 20700 will almost always work perfectly in a 21700 device.

I actually think your friend made some pretty decent choices. The freemax tank is well liked. It has exceptional flavor. It’s only downfalls is it tends to suck juice (like basically all good flavor DL tanks) and it uses a lot of watts. He should have that issue covered with the big mod though.

Thats what I thought :D
And ArticFox will be a great addition as we like modding lol.
Is there a flavour tank that is a bit more efficient? Maybe a Crown IV? Or should he just use a single mesh coil at 40-50W to get decent flavour without drinking juice like a camel drinks water ? [emoji14]

The Uwell Crown IV coils are sub-ohm and demand high wattage, so I seriously doubt that they would be "efficient" in juice conservation.

0.2 Ω Dual SS904L Coil : 70W - 80W
0.4 Ω Dual SS904L Coil : 60W - 70W
0.23 Ω UN2 Meshed Coil : 60W - 70W
I've been a huge fan of the Original Uwell Crown Clearomizer Tank, but because it is an older tank now and its replacement coils are becoming somewhat hard to find I have been reluctant to recommend it lately. I use the 0.5 ohm coils at 30 watts.

  • 0.25 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 80 to 120W
  • 0.5 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 30 to 80W

I've been researching for a replacement for my original Crown tanks for the future. I have the Geekvape Cerberus tank that came with my Geekvape Aegis Mini starter kit and I've been very happy with it. It is a sub-ohm tank of 5.5 ml capacity and is 27mm in diameter. I'm using the 0.2 ohm super mesh coils at 30 watts. I highly recommend if that wattage fits your vaping profile.

0.4ohm IM1 (40 - 60W)
0.15ohm IM4 (60 - 80W)
Super Mesh X1 0.2ohm (30-90W, Best 60-80W)

Here is the problem: It wont fit on a RX2. Why does such a big mod not hold any 27-28mm tanks omg.

But I also heard some good reviews about this tank. Then I have to suggest him a new mod. Oh man.

The problem with flavorful DL is it just uses a lot of juice. Juice is where flavor comes from. A smaller restricted DL tank will use less juice and produce smaller clouds while maintaining flavor, but he might not like it. Restricted DL is sort of partway between DL and MTL. The other way to do it is to use an RTA where you get lots of control with how you build your coil and how many coils you use in the chamber. They also tend to pull lower watts which makes for longer battery life and they cost a lot less to run long term. It’s what I generally do.

It requires you to be willing to deal with screwing in and clipping a coil wire and changing your cotton every day or three. It’s not really any more difficult than changing a cartridge coil but it requires the use of some tools and is generally slightly more fiddly.

Right you are.
I am not really worried about the tank. I am more worried about the mod. It can only hold Tanks up to 25mm. But if you want to buy a new tank with 27mm you again need a new mod... and I heard that it gets pretty hot. Is it true?

The most similar mod I’ve got is a wismec reuleux 2/3 which I generally use in two battery mode. Most tanks are 25mm or less so it’s not a massive problem. I find a bigger problem to be the paint on them bubbling and flaking like basically all painted mods that don’t have automotive paint finishes. I put a silicone sleeve on mine to fix that that which also effectively extended the usable size by 2mm. Still not enough for one of my favorite DL RDAs (aromamizer plus. It’s 30mm) so I generally put that on my aegis. A larger tank will still fit of course, there will just be a bit of overhang. I’ve put the aromamizer on a cigalike battery once for a lark. The thing looked like a baby rattle , but it worked.

I like the Freemax mesh coils and can get a very nice vape from the dual mesh at 55-60W. Runs just fine on a dual 18650. With the 2x batteries that much more runtime. The mesh coils also have a nice lifespan. Properly primed and broken in I can get 2-4 weeks out of a coil with a sweet commercial juice. Perfectly good setup.
