I can't believe this is normal. I got an ecig about a day and a half ago. After a day with NO "real" smokes I can't STAND smoking a real cigarette. I am a fairly heavy smoker but after a day I realize that my addiction was mostly psychological. With an ecig I only take a few drags and put it away. With "real' smokes I would smoke the whole thing.

After one day I had no urge to smoke a real cigarette. For an experiment I lit one up... and it tasted AWFUL. It was terrible compared to the non smelly lightly sweet taste of an ecig.

The other thing that I am looking forward to is no ash trays, no lighters or matches to worry about. No worrying about dropped ashes. No worries about having to go outside in the winter to smoke etc etc etc. No smell of smoke on my clothes.

I haven't even tried to smoke a real cigarette, which is astonishing to me. I picked up my e-cig a month ago and haven't smoked a single cigarette since.

I'm not one who hates the smell of smoke. I actually like to smell it while the cigarette is burning, even now. It's the after-smell that I hate - and I no longer have to deal with that. I'd say that it's the biggest vaping perk for me.

One thing I have noticed is that I can smell a smoker from pretty far away now, and it's not a pleasant smell.

We smokers put up with a lot when we began to smoke; we had a huge learning curve back then with lots of drawbacks, but we kept at it. We learned to tolerate the addiction, the mess and the smell along with the coughing and wheezing. The learning curve with e-cigs is far more pleasant... and it smells much better.

Great thread !

As for myself, I really quit the same day, although over the next two days, I wont lie, I did light one up , but couldn't deal with it. I smoked regular since I was somewhere around 16-18 , and I'm 40 now. I did quit for one year to the day. Stupid. < yea, I said it.

I too can smell a smoker from a far distance, and the loger I'm off them analogs , the stronger they smell to me.

I've taken a personal stand against becoming one of those that is a hypocrite, where they used to smoke, now there oh so belligerent about , and towards smoker. Hey, I did it too.

I'm amazed at the fact that I quit them. Simply astonished. And I tell you something else, I am now able to go extended periods of time with out my PV.

I haven't gone back to smoking since I picked up vaping, but I did notice one thing (story time!): After a couple of days of vaping I went outside with my boyfriend (smoker) to join him while he smoked. I was puffing away on my PV and I caught a whiff of the smoke from his analog. It smelled pretty damn disgusting to me.

I find this odd because my father smoked in the house when I was growing up. I've smoked in every place I've lived. I've been surrounded by cigarette smoke my whole life and I don't remember it smelling that incredibly horrible before I started. But now, yuck.

Consider yourself one of the lucky ones!
There are many who haven't been able to kick the analogs as yet.

Have to agree with sstambo. I fall in to the "lucky ones" category, I haven't picked up an analog since the first day I started vaping.

Yet I have 2 friends who bought e-cigs after seeing my success and their experiences have been different. They started on the same day; one has cut out the analogs completely after 2 weeks, the other still smokes 4-5 analogs daily, though she has cut down her habit tremendously. We were all heavy, long time smokers. Go figure!
