When I refilled some of my carto's with the same flavor as they were holding they seem to take different amounts. Does the color of the juice matter on how much it absorbs?

Currently I use a 808D-1 battery with proper carto's, but what i've been seeing is that the two juices I'm currently on are absorbed completely different. Both juices are 50/50 and 0mg. All that's different is one is dark and one is clear. The dark juice seems to not get absorbed as well and I have more leaking from the bottom (so i stop filling it). The clear juice gets absorbed well, and I can put about a 1 ml in the carto. Is this normal?

The colour shouldn't matter. The ratio of PG to VG would make a difference on how quickly it is absorbed and how well it wicks in the carto but not how much in holds. In all probability, either there's still some liquid in the carto from before, or it's getting old and the filler isn't absorbing as well as it used to.

I find juices with more than 20% VG clog my cartos faster. Also, juices that leave flavoring sediment (often dark juices) will clog cartos faster. In addition, 2 juices of the same PG/VG may flow differently because some flavorings need a higher percent added and some vendors may just start with a premixed base (like 50/50 in your case) then add the flavoring (and flavoring is typically PG based). And different bottles can make different size drops. On top of that, one carto may be packed tighter. And if the stuffing of one carto was warmer when you added juice, the juice may have flowed in better.

When I fill a 1ml blank carto (like most KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos) I make it take 18 drops. I hold some tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the open carto, and slowly drip 18 drops into the stuffing while rotating the carto (I drip onto the inner wall so the juice slides into the stuffing). Then I wait 15-20 seconds to let it soak in (still holding the tissue against the threaded end hole). Then I drip in however many more drops it will soak in easily. Then I do cleanup (clean the threaded end, tilt open end down and puff into the threaded end to clear the air channel - I only buy cartos with a defined center air channel. And if the top of the stuffing looks sopping, I touch a bit of tissue to it). Then I cap it (or stick a plastic drip tip on as a mouthpiece) and let it settle. With 20% VG juices 15 minutes of laying the carto on different sides is enough to made sure every bit of stuffing is damp. Thicker juices will need more time.
