Is this what I should have expected? Anyone direct me to a better eCig?

Hi there guys, first post on these forums, took me a while to realise I had to post in the new members section. I just started vaping yesterday, and apparently didn't do as much research as I should have. I purchased the Genesis 510 Complete Kit from GeCigarette, I heard a lot of good reviews about how it's a good e-Cig to start off with, but my experience with it so far isn't the best (keep in mind I've only had it a day so I wasn't sure what to expect), basically in the kit I got 2 of the Genesis 510 batteries, on the site it states it as being a 180mAh, whereas on the box it's a 150mAh. These things have next to no battery life at all, after the initial charge I had to charge it again after maybe an hour and a half, even after all that they take about 2-3 hours to fully charge. So that's pretty much all I can think about for the battery itself, onto the cartridges, I'm not sure how much e-liquid you're able to put in these cartridges, maybe 1-1.5ml, but basically I was a 10-15 cigarettes-a-day smoker, I didn't vape any more than I smoked, and out of the 5 pre-filled cartridges I got with the kit, I have 1 left, which really sucks as it's the 8mg and if anything, I'm going to be vaping that constantly because I was only getting the throat hit of a real cig with the 24mg.
So to put it all straight, I think I made a bad choice for my first e-Cig, and I'm not willing to give up on it just yet, so can anyone here recommend a kit? I would like the battery to be at least a 650mAh so I don't have to go charging it every hour or so, not too expensive as I was looking at the eGo-C Twist kit, I can't remember which site but I couldn't find one of those for under £50, and I would prefer not to spend over £25-30.
Just realised how much I've typed, so I'm going to end this now.
Thanks to anyone that can help me understand vaping just that little more!

Hello and welcome!

Sorry about your kit. The 510 stick batteries are notorious for short battery life. Once you get 5 posts here in the new members forum, you can post questions in the UK sub-forum to find vendors with low shipping charges to the UK.

ETA: In the meantime, you might find something interesting on this page. It has discount codes and such:

At the very least you should have got an ego style kit. Batteries start at 650mah. I started with an ego-c kit (650) and a Halo Triton kit (also 650) the two batteries in the kit last me a whole day. When I first tried ecigs about 3 years ago I started on a no name cigalike and hated it. A few months back picked up the halo and haven't smoked an analog cigarettes yet. ( and don't plan to) in fact I didn't plan on quitting my Newport's but I did. I now use variable voltage/wattage devices (innokin itaste vv/vw v3.0) to fine tune to my taste. Keep looking for what works for you and you won't regret it. Once you find the hardware and juice you love you'll be vaping happy.

I got my start at halocigs.com I'd skip the g6's unless u really just want it to look like a cig. The Triton Tanks are amazingly good though and got me hooked. Now I have an Innokin VV 3.0 and a SVD is on the way, along with about 20 bottles (pretty easy to find good deals) and started getting into DIY E-Juice. I'd love to get a provari but just too expensive with all the other purchases..be wary, once you get going, you find all kind of goodies that you want :) Anyways, Halo Triton Tank, highly recommended, they are my at work batteries.

Dont let your experience with the cigalike batteries color you red. They are not indicative, in any way, of what a decent setup is like. Compared to anything from an Ego up to a Provari(and using your choice of eliquid), the Taste, Vapor and Throat hit are miles better.*

there is a reason even the most veteran vapers have a couple Ego batteries in their kit. They just plain work. Plus, every vendor sells them in some form or another.

Personally, Id like at an Ego Twist. That way, you have the ability to use Variable Voltage, BUT, you can also just ignore it and use it like a regular ego if you like.

Ive seen the twist style batteries go up to 1300mah. Now, as the Mah rating goes up, so does the size, so judge accordingly.

Obviously, this is a US vendor, but a kit like that is a great way to get going. See if you can find something similar at a UK vendor.

*One thing though, I dont always see this mentioned when discussing stick style batteries/carto setups.. You dont want to draw like you would from a cig. With a cigarette, if you want a bigger drag, you pull harder. The cherry gets hotter, more smoke, etc etc. With an ecig, no matter how hard you pull, the coil isn't getting any hotter. You want to take smooth, slow drags using your mouth, then inhale. Once someone told me that, I was able to get much, much better pulls on the Blu kit I started out with at the time.

Hi, so sorry that your first experience isn't a good one, perhaps as the product you received was not as advertised (on the site it states it as being a 180mAh, whereas on the box it's a 150mAh) you could return it. I found these Vision Ego starter kits available in the UK, that seem to be in your price range.

Don't feel bad OP, a lot of us started exactly where you are right now. My first kit was the Blu, I believe it's branded Sky e-cigs in the UK. Nothing to write home about. Batteries were trash and the cartomizers were too expensive. You've found the right place for information to get you going on a better path.
I'll second the recommendation for Twist batteries and some type of BCC clearomizers. Easy to use and will deliver a much better vape experience. When you feel like branching out with different delivery systems, (carto-tanks, Top coil clearos), your batteries will be compatible with a wide range of products.

    Check this out:
    DV eGo-T Starter Kit - Stainless - 900mah

for $39.99 it is a good starter kit.

I completely agree....or the same starter kit form Discount Vapors with 2 1100a batteries for $44, instead of 2 900a batteries for $39...either way for $25 at most any sites U are going to get garbage and NO backup spare battery or spare CE5 rebuildable clearamizers, or BOTH an AC and USB chargers...

    Oooh, this is naughty.

The Genesis 510 is probably the best Electronic Cigarette model in the world.

    Not good. :(

If you have a budget of £25-30 you will need to shop rather carefully. There is an £8 ego/CE4 kit on sale in the UK, which people are buying LOTS of.

    http://paradisevapeuk.vstore.ca/egoce5-colourful-batery-blister-pack-p-542.html

Personally, I think it's better to spend £35 and get a Riva kit from either VapeEscape or ukecigcabin.

Sorry to hear about the Genesis kit....I knew they existed, but I didn't realise the depth of their marketting nonsense.

Still, most of us were conned by skycig or E-lites or Nicolites, they say this and that about their products and none of it is really true.

Lots of great advice here! Maybe you can salvage your Genesis kit for vaping when you want to have an automatic battery. Totally Wicked is in UK as well as USA. You can check with them. A lot of places have customer service that is outstanding and they will speak with you by phone or email regarding your needs and preferences. I have received a lot of help from this forum as well as the vendors I do business with.

I love my eGo set up and my Kanger clearomizers. I am relatively new so I haven't gone the mod route yet. Soon, little grasshopper, soon! I am just waiting for my store credit to hit MadVapes so I can order a ZMax. I like the variable voltage that I tried, just didn't like the battery life so I am going bigger and better. Someday, perhaps a Provari. I don't think I will regret the ZMax and I will keep my eye on the Provari prize when I have saved more money with vaping.

Don't give up! It is a great alternative to cigarettes, it smells better, it is safer and it tastes great!

I also started on the eGo T, I would recommend the eGo C, as you can take them apart and replace the atomizers. An eGo Twist with the 2ml tank will last all day if not 2. I currently have on order since yesterday a Zmax v3 flat top, a Kanger protank, 4 Kanger Evods, and some assorted juices. Can't wait for the mail this week. Good luck finding what's right for you, don't give up. Trial and error is still way less expensive than the money you'll spend on analogs.

This really works. There a lot of kits out there that shall we say put money in other peoples pockets. When you find something that saves you money it works. Most all of the people on this forum have been burned in one way or another but we saw the prospects of something better. Quite a few of us have found it and others are still searching.

Skip the ego and go straight to a mod, the vamo or itaste MVP are under $100 and you'll be able to vape for days without stopping to charge!

    This isn't a bad idea.

Its what I did. I knew Id want to upgrade from an Evo as soon as I got it, because even before I put the Ego Twist in my cart, I was already oogling mods like the Tesla and the iTaste MVP.

The term mod, or better, APV-Advanced Personal Vaporizer, basically means any type of electronic cigarette that has a big battery life. Also possibly has a bunch of other features as well.

Right now, IMO, the Vamo is tough to beat pricewise. For around 50 bucks, you get a device which can do everything currently desired by anyone. There is no type of delivery device which cant be screwed onto the top, it can push more power than you need it too, and it can run on a couple different battery types so you have the option to make it smaller/longer if you want. The ONLY thing itll struggle with, is sub-ohm atomizers, but those are a more advanced thing, and not neccesarily something youd even be interested in when you get to that stage. As for right now, a Vamo, a couple Kanger Evods, a pair of 18650 Batteries and a charger, and a couple bottles of Ejuice, will knock your socks off. Aside from the amazing flavor and ease of use, it makes quitting cigs a walk in the park.
