Lol... Basically, you want your volts somewhere between 3.7 and 4.2. The lower the ohm you build your coil to, the more watts you'll use to achieve that voltage. The more power you use correlates to more surface area of coil since the lower you go the thicker the wire, and the thicker the wire the longer coil you can run, and the more vapor and flavor you can create. All without raising the temperature!

So many people mentioned the same thing. Different wires sizes, types, and ohms have different results. The dangers associated with ecigs have to do with the heat breaking down the molecular level of the ingredients. on some of my builds, if I used 10 watts, it wouldn't produce any vapor. If you had a quad coil, and only put your mod to 10 watts, you would be putting about 2.5 watts per coil.. not much at all.

There are a lot of unknowns as to the long term effects of vaping. 10 years from now we may all end up with some new disorder from it. "Vaper's Lung" or "ecigganitis", or some such crap, but it's doubtful. All the REAL science so far points to vaping as being relatively safe in the short term. Who knows. But vaping for me, and for many other folks, is the only successful way to stop smoking tobacco, a habit for which the dangers ARE known and are LETHAL.

As stated above, all the junk science about formaldehyde from vaping has been debunked. No one vapes at 7000 degrees or whatever the temp is where PG morphs. As far as DA/AP, the levels found in the flavorings some vapers use are MUCH lower than the levels of the same toxins found in cigarettes. As far as I know, no one ever got "popcorn lung" from cigarettes, so I'm not super concerned with that.

The bottom line is that the government, big tobacco, the medical industry, and big pharm all make hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars off of folks that smoke cigarettes. Tobacco sales, and thereby tax dollars, have actually started to decrease since vaping became more popular. And drug companies and medical corporations see the writing on the wall about the future where fewer and fewer folks will need their cancer and COPD meds and treatments. It's making them fear the future, so they are throwing millions into the anti-vaping propaganda, trying to strike fear into the sheeple. 90% of the folks out there will believe anything they see on TV 3 times, so a 30 second commercial played once every half hour during prime time for a month is a powerful tool. Vaping is a new industry and hasn't the resources to fight back with truthful campaigns of our own. The government is funded (both above and below the table) by these industries, so they have the power (and by power I mean money) to sway (buy) the votes of the politicians who control the fate of the people. And when millions of dollars in campaign contributions (bribes) are threatened, the politicians react by spouting fearmongering crap to sway the opinions of the ignorant masses. It's a practice as old as civilization itself. The only reason they get away with it is that most people are inherently apathetic. As long as they can drive their cars and watch Will Farrel on their 700" pflat screen TVs while sitting in their quarter million dollar homes, they don't care.

i would be surprised if you knew you were even vaping a .5 coil at 10 watts lol the info he has presented makes no sense and is false if the liquid was burning the taste would be bad and you would know to turn it down at that point i vape a .3 ohm coil at 60 watts regularly with no health conserns as of yet anyways for 3 years of vaping

There was quite a lot there for your friend to get a handle on, but once he understands ohms law, and the variables added by changing both the wire gauge and number of coils, he will then need to consider the user input.

You don't hit the power button and simply watch it vape. Actively pulling on the device controls airflow (as does the airflow design of the device), and this along with duration of puff has a massive effect on temperature, which the user controls.

I'm not even going there. what I know is from personal experience and this year and a half I quit smoking my oxygen saturation went from 94% to 100% again according to my doctors tests. I also quit needing my inhaler, my nagging cough stopped , and my wheeze stopped.. I usually vape at about 30 watts
it sure has not harmed my breathing any and my lungs function has improved.(yes, I do see a pulmonary doctor for actual testing) so with the physical improvements I've had I'm not going to argue on someone bent to prove me wrong...I just say I would agree to disagree.. There is ALWAYS someone who's going to say vaping is worse than smoking or is bad when they have never done either.

So 10W is high wattage, well damn my ez bake oven is extremely super uber high powered, it takes 2, count them, 1.....2...., 100W lightbulbs

so you believed him enough to come here and ask, only problem with that is now you have to choose to either believe your friend or believe a bunch of anonymous forum users...Researching the info he gave you would have lead you to conclude, he isn't a very smart science major

Thanks for the responses so far but they wont appease my scientist friend,:)

Some more detailed positions and reasons please?

Send you Friend a link to this Thread. And after reading it if He/She still doesn't understand the Difference between Wattage and Coil Temperature, just Smile - Say OK and then move on.

You might also Mention that to Most People, e-Cigarettes are viewed as Harm Reduction. Not Harm Elimination.

You might also point your Friend to these Reports by Public Health England ...

Your friend probably believes what he is telling you because he is educated. That's why he had you thinking he knows what he's talking about. But the problem I've noticed with the modern education system is that it teaches the words and the definition but many people who are getting degrees and certifications cannot take those words and definitions and apply them to real world situations. I see this every day in the financial industry. Guys with masters and 20+ certifications in financial services do not get how the stock market works or why certain rules are in place. Sounds like your guy is suffering from the same affliction. He knows the lingo but has no skills in application of his newly minted smarts.
