No nicotine isn't extremly addictive. No more than caffeine.

I suggest you do a bit of fact checking there. Nicotine is more addictive than Coke, and I'm not talking about the drink. It ranks right between Coke and that other substance that comes from poppies in the addictiveness scale.

If there's any chance at all that second-hand vapor will harm your children, that chance is infinitesimally small. There are countless things your child is likely to encounter on a daily basis that are far more dangerous than vapor.

But I can't tell you you're wrong if you decide not to vape around kids. Just do yourself a favor by not over-thinking it.

I suggest you sit down and think real hard about what you wrote is even supposed to mean, before you even consider whether or not it's accurate. Define nicotine addiction first; move on from there.

*sigh* did you read the Drexel study?

I wouldn't blow the vape in a baby's face - or anyone else's - though!

I wouldn't blow air on anyone's face for that matter let alone vapor. I even cover my mouth when I cough and sneeze. I guess I could get away with it if I did it "respectfully and politely" but I'm not pushing it any time soon LOL.

I've been slyly blowing vapor into my next door neighbors pram for about 6 months now, and the kid seems fine, i'll keep it up for another 6 months and report back.

I do sometimes blow gently on an ear or neck, but maybe that belongs in a different thread

Yes, I vape around my kids (ages 3 through 15), and other people's kids (those who approve of my switch from smoking and kindly allow vaping in their homes, of course). "Around" is defined as in the same room; it's not like I feel the need or have the time to "chain vape" while playing with or attending to children.

But, yeah, not blowing in the face of others is a matter of decency, courtesy, and respect for personal space, just like I wouldn't breathe my garlic and coffee breath on anyone after eating a big Italian meal with an after dinner espresso.

Thanks. I made a really weird snorting sound when I read this, and my coworkers look worried about me now...

Are you sure that is not a side effect from the pg in the ejuice you're vaping? Did you snort at jokes before you started vaping?

I love the visual btw, keep those coworkers on their toes LOL.

OK, I'm logging off the forum now, I'll come back when this streak of sarcasm has worn off. Ta, ta...

Oh wow! You've repeated some hollow claims without backing it up with any studies showing how that conclusion was arrived at.

I know I'm convinced.

I'll have to ignore the fact that after taking Tylenol 4 post surgery for 4 days I had cramping and shakes when I missed a dose and didn't have problems like that when I've quit nicotine OR smoking.

Rosa,

I think you're onto something (but I bet it's the nicotine, not the PG!)

Vaping can be used to inhale nicotine, which is a drug
Many people who vape read ECF
Reading ECF causes snorting
Some other drugs cause snorting when they are used
These other drugs are highly addictive

Therefore nicotine is highly addictive.

QED.

If I had a kid I probably wouldn't really vape it around him, just to be safe and also not to influence him to be a smoker and/or a vaper!

Agreed. The influence is the biggest part, yes. Dangerous for them physically, no....

For those arguing that nicotine is so dangerous, it naturally occurs in broccoli and tomatoes as well as many other edible plants. So, go home and get rid of all those today...

But in all fairness, my children have seen how hard it was for me to put down the tobacco cigarettes, and I lecture constantly on the subject of never picking one up in the first place. I feel that vaping in front of them is a way better influence than smoking.

That is my opinion, there are many like it, but this one is mine! :)

I would say to use caution like most others are suggesting here. I would like to believe that vapour is entirely harmless, although I have a new set of twin siblings so for now I'm just blowing my vapour away from them and trying to avoid it around them just in case. I know the smell of cigarette smoke for babies can apparently cause sudden infant death syndrome. I would hate to be vaping on my favourite tobacco flavour only to be shocking the systems of the twins in the event that their sense of smell, or any other for that matter, could be at all affected.

To be more accurate, infants with mothers that smoke are at a higher RISK of SIDS. We still do not know what causes SIDS. There are certain things that they've been able to identify as increasing the risk - stomach sleeping, low birth weight or premature birth, cold weather, younger mothers, overheating, etc. etc. etc. Most likely, no one factor alone is enough to cause SIDS. It is most likely a combination of things, including a predisposition for it.

And actually, most of the studies point to in utero exposure to cigarettes as a higher risk factor than any secondhand smoke after birth.
