Hello all. I recently quit smoking cigarettes and have been vaping for the past week. The e-juice I use is a 50/50 vg/pg mix.Two days ago my sinus has been becoming dry and bloody. Also I got a really bad cold which lead to cold sores around my left eye and nose. Since my juice is 50/50 how would I know if its the vg or pg that is getting me sick. I haven't vaped in two days because I'm worried I will have these symptoms again. I'm so tempted to smoke a cigarette I need help!

I am one of the few that is allergic to PG ... Celtic Vapours based in Swansea UK do a fantastic range of VG only fluids. All of my symptoms which were pretty horrific disappeared soon after switching to VG only. Which brand of fluid are you vaping? A lot of the Chinese made fluids have some nasty stuff in them. Don't give up ...Get yourself some VG only fluid or buy the ingredients needed to mix your own VG fluid xx

Those sympons often shows up when people quit smoking.Regardless of vaping or not. Give it a couple of weeks. It is very very rare to be alergic to PG or VG

Some have issues with the amount of nicotine they are using as well.. When I started I was using 24mg only to discover that was way to high for me. I went down to 12mg and 6mg after 4 months. I can tell you that your mouth and lungs will go thru a transition. You will experience issues with your taste buds and at times vaping will taste bad. The best remedy that I found was to make sure that I was drinking plenty of water while I was vaping. Another cause could be that you are inadvertently getting nicotine/e-juice in your mouth from your atomizer. Lots of different things to learn to make vaping a great experience. I can say that after about 30 days of vaping and not smoking analogues my taste buds started to grasp flavors and my lungs (smoker's cough) cleared up tremendously.

I about fell apart my first month. You have to remember you are withdrawing from all of those other thousands of chemicals that are in cigarettes! My nose ran and I had body aches. I read somewhere that the bodyaches are from your body ridding itself of all that carbon monoxide.

Just stick with it...it gets better!

It is flu season (or general sickness season) - so don't be too quick to blame the vape.
If you have been smoking a long time, maybe dual use for a while and cut back on the cigarettes instead of cutting them off completely. Either that, or just bear down and fight through the withdrawal symptoms for the next month or so (varies depending on the individual). There are a ton of other things in cigarettes which you crave other than nicotine. You are removing a lot of the toxins from your daily life, so your body is responding to that. I'm no doctor, just going based on what I've read, heard, and experienced (I was a light smoker - 1/2 PAD at my worst, not including rare occasion when I drank too much and killed a pack of smokes in an evening).

The easiest transition I've seen for a PAD smoker was cutting back to 3 cigarettes or so a day (first thing in the morning, after lunch and after dinner) for a month then down to 1 (the beloved morning cigarette with a cup of coffee was hard to kick). thats sort of a gradual step - still feeding your body those extra toxins enough to squelch most of the withdrawal symptoms. It seems like its about 1-2 months after you quit completely when you notice the biggest effect on your lungs and senses. theres an "ah-ha!" moment in there where your like, "Man, I can breath better and this juice tastes DELICIOUS!" ... the worst part for me quitting smoking was smelling all the nasty crap... seemed like most of the time I wished I still smoked because the foul smells where always so much more pungent then the present smelling things. Time cures all though, now I don't feel that way - I enjoy my sense of smell more now, finding pleasant smells much more often and just as pungent as the foul smells.

As others have said - drown your self with water! seriously, drink a ton - always have water with you and drink every time your feel dry mouth or thirsty.

I'm allergic to PG and artificial flavors. Turns out any type of Cinnamon too.

I now just DIY a simple peppermint recipe. Made with organic peppermint, organic VG and VG Base.

Very economical and because I choose what is in my juice I avoid the allergies.

Usually the allergy is to the PG and you may have a 2ndary allergy to artificial flavorings.

How did your allergy/sensitivity present it self?

to ecf redashehadeh. Nice to meet you and glad you are here. So sorry to hear you are having these problems. It has only been a week so I don't think you have given it a fair chance. Plus you have been sick which adds to the problem. If that is not enough, you have stopped smoking and you said you had not vaped in two days so you have the withdrawal from nicotine going on and is probably contributing to all your aggravation. If it was my child, I would get him some Ayr Saline Nasal Gel with Soothing Aloe in it to help with his nose. (I know that can be painful) and tell him he needs to just be patient and see how he feels after he gets over his cold. That going back to smoking would prove nothing. I would probably also accuse him of using all this as an excuse to go back to smoking but that's just the Mom in me. You have to decide what is right for you. There is a lot of information on ecf but it is also full of people that really care. I hope you will keep us posted on how you are doing and what helped you through this rough time. It could help others too. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better real soon.
