I know that the istick Pico is a great device. My friend ordered his on ebay for about $20. But from the start there was an issue. Clicking the fire button 5 times wouldn't turn the mod back on when he tried. The only way that the mod turns on is by taking out the battery and putting it back in.

I never owned a Pico so I can't possibly fix the issue. Is there anything someone can suggest to help fix my buddy's mod?

This is the second time I’ve heard of electronics issues with recently bought picos. Perhaps they are developing a shinzein issue or they’re developing manufacturing failures. Quite disturbing. The smoant battlestar has a similar problem recently. Early models are excellent, but at some point devices started coming out with major manufacturing failures and the model more or less died.

Tell your buddy to not buy gear from ebay! Have him try cleaning the battery contacts with alcohol and a q-tip.
Oho! Missed the eBay bit. Yeah. Buying ecig hardware off eBay is a great way to get fake or broken garbage. What he should be doing is contesting the sale since they sold him something that is clearly counterfeit or already broken.

IStick Pico 75W wont stop firing/Firing on its own

Either iStick is getting sloppy with their manufacturing quality control, or counterfeit Pico's are on the market. Seeing that the device in the OP's post was bought on EBay, the possibility of it being counterfeit is quite plausable. IMHO, its always risky to purchase e-cig gear on EBay.

I think iStick or eLeaf incorporates an authentification code to insure the device is authentic.

Nvm. Turns out it was bought used on eBay. This does not repeat not mean there is a problem with joytech quality control then. Sorry for confusing the issue.

Oh i told him right after he ordered it that he bought it from the worst possible place to buy a mod. I have a good feeling he would've been a happy customer had he bought it from a reliable source. There were actually fake Istick 50W when that mod was on the market so I wouldn't be surprised if he has a counterfeit Pico.

I have no idea if this is a genuine or counterfeit Pico, but in general I have heard good things about them. However, I have seen several manufacturers of various products from computers, to phones, to mods, etc. that start their company with nothing but top quality in mind and they start off putting out amazing products. Then over time as the greed sets in, production quantities skyrocket with demand, and deadlines get tighter, the quality and innovation start slipping and their products start failing more often. I am not saying this is what has happened in this case, just that I have seen it happen multiple times with other companies.

I've heard it said those $20 Pico's from eBay were "reconditioned" units. In other words, they were returned as defective then "fixed" up and resold as seconds. Not recommended to buy mod's on eBay, especially from China unless buying from a known dealer.

I was just wondering where to put this comment I'm about to make... I have 3 mods - 2 Vaporessos, and the Pico. The Vaporessos are MUCH easier to turn on & off than the Pico. You have to click really fast and it just feels a little like you have to tap like a woodpecker or something. Are you sure he's clicking fast enough? It's definitely a different feel than my other mods. I love it otherwise...

My 3 Picos are easy to turn off and on, no fast clicks required. I really suspect this is an unreliable supplier issue.

You buy mods on ebay you run a risk of fake stuff. You buy used mod on ebay you also run risk of fake or not working properly.

There are a lot of fake eleaf and other mods out there. A new Pico costs $25 to $30 so just get one from a legit dealer next time.

Believe it or not, after you posted this I decided to call my buddy and ask him try clicking the power button 5 times extremely fast. Low and behold the issue was he was clicking it 5 times too slow, probably used to his Revenger. The mod turns on and off just fine now. Thank you very much, problem solved:)
