I was reading about it somewhere a few days ago and it got me thinking. If your carto (or otherwise coil) is submerged in the juice, then on every hit, it starts warming up the liquid. I'm not positive on how badly it affects the liquid itself, but it would explain why in most of my tanks it starts tasting "not so fresh" when I'm down to last quarter tank.

At some point I thought that it has to do with how the carto wicks when the tank is almost empty, so I strained the juice from almost empty tanks for a few days, and filled them all into one tank. Tasted weird, noticeably different from a fresh from the bottle juice.

I would also assume that dual coil cartos have this problem more than others.

The same problem does not occur in my bottom feeders, Vivi Nova (where the coil is higher than liquid and doesn't heat it up as much) or in my DUD.

Can anyone confirm or disprove this theory so I can sleep better? :)

Thank you!

Your theory is interesting. One of the reasons that the juice starts to taste differently as you start getting towards the end of a tankfull of juice, is that some components of the juice get caught up in the polyfill material and never reach the heating coils. The heavier components get left behind in the juice or stuck in the polyfill like what happens with a cigarette filter. Hence one of the reasons juice turns darker towards the end of a tankfill. Some of the flavor components get left behind in the juice and polyfill. This phenomenon is more common with the darker flavored juices.

The nicotine in e-juice is also known to turn darker as it ages.
