Hey guys,

I am really digging my ihybrid mayan LE, but there is something about it that is causing me a bit of frustration: The switch.

It misfires a lot, and I seem to have to put a lot of side pressure on the switch to get it to fire. I have to push in and to the side, quite firmly, and if I relax the side pressure, it either weakens the power, or stops firing altogether.

Ive taken the switch apart repeatedly to clean the contacts, but it doesnt seem to do much.

Im just wondering if anyone else is having problems with new switch?

Cheers!

cool, at least they are aw...it's hard to determine if it could be the battery or the switch without trying another battery. It's weird although they are supposed to be the same size sometimes they differ in length just slightly.

Check for any slight burrs on the brass screw in the switch that could be sanded down. Also try to loosen the screw just a little bit see if it makes any difference

Also check on the atomizer side that there is nothing stuck up there by mistake.

Hope it helps ;)

I checked everything with my multimeter, and everything at the atty side is good. The only fluctuation I got was when testing the switch.

I have a couple 18650's and they both have the same issue.

The spring system in the switch is designed to accommodate different lengths of batteries (brilliant design, I must say).

There are two routes the negative end of the battery makes it into the circuit, through the sides of the actual switch on the switch housing, or the bottom spring on the switch itself. Since it is misfiring completely when centered, I can only conclude that the spring isnt very conductive. (Im wondering if a new spring could fix this?)

I cleaned everything, but it didnt seem to help. The only other thing I can think of is the hole that the button slides through is too big and its making sporadic contact unless forced in one direction

As I move the switch around with my pinky while it is firing, I can hear the volume of the hiss going up and down with the movement of my pinky. When im hovering in the center (again, switch still engaged) it stops completely.

If there's anyone reading this that has the new switch, could you try what I just described? Listen to the atty while moving your pinky around when firing.

Im just curious if this is normal, or if there is something wrong with my switch...

I sent an email asking about this, so we will see...

I want to add that Im still getting a fantastic vape from it so its not a huge deal, I just like expensive toys to work flawlessly. Im a bit OCD when it comes to electronics... you should have seen my guitar rig.... all true bypass effects, into a PTP wired tube amp. I went through every contact point from the pickups to the speakers and replaced everything with top of the line components, soldered everything with silver, and wired my own top of the line cables $30/ft..lol. (for those that know guitar gear, Fralin unbuckers in a PRS custom 22 10 top, evidence audio lyric HG cables, pedal board of boutique made true bypass effects, into a Dr. Z MAZ 38 amp... the notes jumped off the fretboard, it was beautiful. but I digress... :p

Check the anodizing on the ends of the tubes. I know that if you see any color you can take some fine sand paper and take the anodizing off the ends. This really improves contact. My Mayan is working great but I have heard some people with the same problem and that was what they were doing. Noob here so take the info as you will.

:toast: lol i do have a new switch and no that is not normal...agreed something strange w/the switch. i can press mine anywhere and it stays the same, pretty much just barely pressing it in.

Good suggestion!

maybe also try asking in the official thread, for sure one of the experts over there can help lol ;)

Ok so I checked a few things with my meter...

from the positive post to the side of the switch housing, I get 1 ohm (the resistance of the coil) but from the positive post to the bottom of the actual switch, I get 1.6 ohms. This is just a measurement of the negative path, not factoring in the positive connection and voltage loss (positive probe on positive post, through the coil, into the ground screw and through the body to the negative probe is the pathway being measured). This is measured with the battery in, so everything is where it should be.

Im getting an extra 0.6 ohms of resistance unless I press the switch firmly to the side. So I can see in a meter exactly what im experiencing.

I was wondering if anybody out there with a meter would mind checking their ihybrid (new switch only) for me? Put the positive prob on the positive post and check the resistance at various points around the switch with the battery in (switch disengaged obviously, never have voltage in a circuit when testing resistance)

(you can also put the positive prob on the ground screw to get the actual resistance of the body, but I find higher numbers easier to read on my meter as mine is analog)

Cheers!

Im going to post this in the ihyrid thread and see what responses I get
