I'm new to rebuildables and I currently haw a DNA 30 and I bought the russian 91. I have 28 gauge kanthal wire but everytime I try and make a coil my ohm reader is always showing my coil below .8 ohms and I want something around 1.2- 1.6. What am I doing wrong to always get a sub ohm coil?

Start here Battery drain | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators, and use or at the very least play with every calculator on steam-engine till you have a better understanding of what building coils is all about.

How many wraps are you doing? Did you try doing more wraps? Maybe try some 30g or even larger diameter wrap? If I recall correctly 8 wraps on 5/32 bit of 28g should be 1.1 or 1.2. It's been a while since I wrapped that type of coil so I might be wrong.
Close, Despraci... all right but the fractional prime. 5/64" (2mm), assuming 2mm legs... 8 wraps (67mm total length) would get you 1.2Ω.

5/32" would be one fatass (near 4mm) coil ID. ;-)

Hey Brettels... welcome to ECF, and visit Steam Engine. You can model all the coils you want, before you build them.

Thank you everybody!! I'm not currently using a drill bit I've just been using a small screw driver but I'll try the drill bit and I'm about to check out all the links, I'll let you all know if I get it figured out!

Give us a yell if you have any questions... and remember, the more we know about what you've got, the easier it will be to diagnose issues.

You are correct, that should have been 5/64 :)
