Ok, I'm new to vaping, like about 3 weeks new, and I'm getting a lot of dry hits out of my evod tanks. It's fine for a while but then i get a dry hit and it's just awfull. It stays that way for 5 or 6 hit no matter how much I dry hit it to try and get it to prime up with juice.

I'm not really a fan of top feeders from what I've heard, but I am looking to expand my devices a bit so I was also looking for advice in the "next step" department as it were. I'm getting a variable wattage battery but I need a little advice, or really just ideas and some opinions, on tanks and attys.

Thanks in advance!

the airy draw i get sometimes all do is cover one of the air holes wile i vape and it helps. another trick to help with liquid flow is try a quick blow or 2 through the mouth piece without hitting the fire button, it helps to equalize the pressure in the tank and allow juice to flow easy. i do this after 10 to 20 vapes depending on how hard im pulling

I've been fiddling with my EVODs for about a week now (frustration with not getting enough vapor), and I've been replacing the flavor wicks with 2 strands of #6 Peaches & Cream 100% Cotton yarn (from Wal-Mart). It wicks MUCH better than the stock wick. In fact, just this morning, I had a brand new coil head with stock wick. When the juice ran out, I replaced the flavor wick, because there just wasn't enough juice hitting the coils. The cotton wick fixed that problem post haste. Also, make sure the atomizer assembly is screwed in really tight to the base. Also, also, keep your battery contact and the EVOD contact really clean. I clean mine all the time. That seems to do a lot. I have some 32 gauge kanthal coming in, and hopefully some lower ohm coils will help as well.

That said, I like my plain old Vision V3 clearos much better, because they just work. Great vapor, no fuss.

Hope this helps.

I changed your title so you can get more responses.

A 'bottom feeder' refers to an apv that stores liquid in the device and feeds liquid through the bottom of the atty/carto. It's a self-feeding system.

Thanks. Like I said, I plan on branching out into different tanks soon, though I'm not sure which way to go with it. Up to the last day or 2 my experience with the EVOD was great. My dad's top feeders had turned me off to vaping till I went to my local shop and hit a bottom feeder (the EVOD of course) and now analogs just sound dumb, and don't get me started on the taste...

However, even with different tanks I feel like the evod, or maybe a protank/T3 will be one of my staples so I'm wanting to find ways of working through any issues I come accross. This issue, best I can tell, is just not enough juice in the coil. I blow through it like Brevin said, take a few primer puffs and it works nicely now, though the draw is still more airy than it was before. One crucial factor is when priming I've found that covering 2 of the holes makes it gulp up some juice when it runs really dry.

I've thought about trying a top feeder, but past experience with them has been a bit sketchy. So I suppose now a little advice on top feeders is all I need.
Also, a lot of people rave about dripping, but I'm usually preoccupied. While at the house however I think it could be good. I know absolutely nothing about dripping though so some pointers and hardware advice would be great on this subject.

Three weeks? You are changing your heads right? You shouldn't need to remove a flavor wick unless you're near 100% VG like Phil Busardo, unless you want to occasionally get hot, scolding juice in your mouth. They also enhance wicking and help prevent leaking. Also, you may be frying your wicks (carbon coating on the wicks preventing wicking) by using either too much heat, or a very high concentrated dark, sweet flavored juice. What happens when you heat sugar? It turns solid, right? Depending on your vaping, clean your coils every day or two, change your coils when you can no longer get them clean, keep your tanks more than 1/3 full (the pressure does affect wicking) and that should do it for you. Watch your heat (voltage/wattage). Many juices don't like a lot of heat and this will affect wicking, which can give you dry hits. It's not the EVOD. It's some combination of all of these factors. Best to you!

Strongly recommend you stay with the EVOD's and master using them. I started with top coils and there's no comparison, imho. The Protank is a good idea. Get an airflow controller:

Tank Airflow Controller

These allow you to customize the draw. But the EVOD's are great. All clearos require maintenance. All clearos leak, if they get air flow from the bottom. Learning how to make them work, is a very important part of the vaping experience. Unfortunatly, there is no "magic bullet" vape that does it all for us. We have to learn how to achieve and maintain the vape we want....Maybe someday, it'll be different, but that day hasn't come yet. Dripping is even more work to achieve the vape you want...and worth it as well. Stick with it. I think you're on target here. Great post, happy vaping, Power up and Vape On!

Yeah I replace my coils regularly. I chain vape right now so I burn through at least a coil a week, 2 last week. lol

My spearmint is a very thin liquid and is just kinda pink though it's darkening a bit as I get further into the bottle. Unlike my caramel mocha which I have to wash out of the tank and coil if I want a different flavor cause it is sooo strong and has a deep amber color. So, I learned my lesson with different liquids acting differently pretty quick as the ones I have kinda span the whole spectrum from nearly clear do nearly brown. Most of my juice is about 80 pv/20 vg so it's not too thick.

Like I said, I absolutely love my EVODs, I just have to learn my way around them a bit. That airflow controller should help a lot. The draw on my tanks started nice and tight, but just kind of loosened over time so a $3 piece to fix that minor issue is well worth it as, like I said, I'm completely in love them otherwise.

I'd like to just thank not even just the people responding here, but everyone on these forums for their help. It never ceases to amaze me how different and accepting vapers are to newbs than other communities. Cars, music, and so many other scenes kinda just ignore new people and let them figure it out the hard way, but vapers in general have been some of the friendliest (Esp in my local shop; whose name I'll leave out for not knowing the rules on plugging company names here, where I get hands down the best and friendliest service I've ever gotten anywhere for anything.) and most helpful people I've come across.
