Hello everyone,

I've been a hookah smoker for a while and after some reading I decided to give it a go at vaping, so I went to my local store and bought an Eleaf iStick 30W and a Kanger Tech EMOW Mega. I also got two coils, a 1.8 ohm and a 1.0 ohm one.

I've used both coils now and I have some questions:

-Could someone please tell me how does volts/ohms AND vaping puff time (in seconds) relate to heat in my setup?

-Am I damaging a 1.8 ohm coil by vaping for a 1 second puff at 30w? Am I damaging a 1.8 ohm coil by vaping for 8 seconds at 10w?

-On a variable wattage device such as mine, what would be the best EMOW coil to get to higher wattages?

-Also, Is this setup adecuate to vape at 30W? Would upgrading my clearomizer to a Kanger Tech subtank mini give me a better vape?

Thank you very much in advance!

Yes you can damage your 1.8 coil by firing it at 30w. I also wouldnt recommend firing the 1ohm coils at 30w either. Everytime you fire a factory coil you are technically damaging it because they dont last to long.

Yes the ST will give you alot better vapor and you can utilize all the power of your istick30. Also with the ST you get a rebuildable deck, so if you feel like getting into that in the future you wont need to buy a new device.

I'm doing a bump on this post as there're still some questions unanswered :)

I'd like to help. :) (the best I can...)

Am I damaging a 1.8 ohm coil by vaping for a 1 second puff at 30w? Am I damaging a 1.8 ohm coil by vaping for 8 seconds at 10w?

1 second at 30w could be too much for emow... hard to say. Once in a while, probably not. Consistent firing... yes. 8 seconds on a 1.8ohm coil at 10w is more realistic, but not 100%.

-On a variable wattage device such as mine, what would be the best EMOW coil to get to higher wattages?

Lower resistance is better, but you might find it difficult to get very high... due to the design.

-Also, Is this setup adequate to vape at 30W? Would upgrading my clearomizer to a Kanger Tech subtank mini give me a better vape?

NO. The emow is not a 30w atomizer. YES. A subtank would be better and probably the 0.5ohm coil.

:)

The EMOW clearomiser coil head is a low-medium power atomizer. 5-15 watts.

The EMOW clearomizer coil uses a very thin wire, so pushing too much heat (watts) through it will eventually short it out and ruin it. As said above, it is a low-medium atomizer.

With a subtank, you'll probably be exploring into sub-ohm range and making your own coils, and likely using a much thicker wire to make your coils, which in turn can take the higher heat (watts) that your high wattage mod can deliver.

Thank you very much for your answers, I'll add the langer subtank in
My wish list.

Also, I haven't vaped for the last two days as I've had my ears clodded with mucus. I've been sufferimg from tinnitus for the last two years and I've heard that vaping PG may worsen it as it seems to be ototoxic.

Do you know if further research has been performed regarding tinnitus and vaping? Is vaping VG safer?

Not sure, as I don't have much issue with PG, but you might want to check out some of the other threads across ECF re: tinnitus and vaping/PG. Doing a simple google search, the first ECF result alone seems to have some pretty decent info. Hope you can solve your problem with this!
