Yesterday seemingly in the middle of vaping for no apparent reason my istick 30w stopped working and started reading "atomizer short" the first I have encountered this problem.

It does this with both the subtank and delta ii and reads their ohms just won't fire. If I put them on the subbox which is dead with a broken USB port they can fire.

I've seen people say lift the pin on the battery and push the o ring underneath but I haven't been able to. I can push the pin down and it comes back up. If I try to wedge under and lift the pin with a small screwdriver it tilts a bit but doesn't come up. I don't see and can't create any gap to move the o ring under.

Speaking of o rings there appears to be a white o ring at the bottom but I can't move lift or manipulate it at all.

Anyone know how to fix this thing?

It would be much appreciated as the situation is approaching vape crisis status. I'll soon need to at least get an external charger for the battery in my subbox which I haven't used for a long time as the USB port is totally useless and ruined. I'm using my first device ever, a crappy pen I got at the corner store and managed to dig up. The plastic tank is cracked and the button wasn't working from being dropped, I managed to pry it loose and reveal the actual button beneath that I can press with a tiny screwdriver lol. Dire times.

Wow ! sorry to read of your battery malfunction. Don't know if we can post up links. Have you checked youtube ? Search Rick Chatfield or IStick atomizer short error.

In the past I had similar issue with my battery, what I did was clean battery/tank contacts with alcohol/qtip, problem solved.

On most 510 connections there is a small black O Ring beneath and around the 510 center pin. You need a small flathead screwdriver and something to grab the edge of the O Ring to remove it (tweezers or hemostats or even a dental pick). Take the O Ring to your local hardware/plumbing supply store and get some that are the same size 000 I believe but not sure. Then lift the center pin again and install new O Ring. I have done this on numerous devices with success.

Vape crisis update after gutting the istick and learning its battery is useless: I attempted to rig the subtank charger by taping the damn cord in place and it said it was charging but only enough for a few puffs after a couple hours. Then the USB port inside the subbox broke clean off.

Then I tried something I probably should have sooner- I put the subtank on the pen battery instead of the clearomizer it came with. It actually works! Was vapeless for a few days there, brutal.

Tomorrow getting an external charger and or maybe the dripbox, anyone tried it?

It certainly seems the problem was with the battery where the tank screws in. It would accurately read the ohms of both tanks but wouldn't fire. Those same tanks fired on the subbox and pen.

Tried cleaning the battery pin, couldn't lift it from above or underneath with the battery disassembled. Around the pin there is what looks like a white o ring but it couldn't be manipulated. Tried putting an o ring between the battery and tank no dice.

I even heard people saying long pins from the subtank pushing the battery pin down and causing it to make contact inside the mod shorting it so tried it with the thing half disassembled and the bottom of the pin on the inside of the mod definitely touching nothing and same result.

Think it just retired on me but its garbage now. Lasted pretty long

All your work was for nothing. If the Center pin is floating(not shorting to case) and allows the Chip to read - The pin is fine.
The Chip has taken a dump or the Battery has failed. From the Atomizer short error, it seems it is the chip.

External chargers are cheap and a second battery would be a good investment. Future Mods with removable batteries are a better direction for longevity and cost for use.

The I stick was the first battery I got after the corner store vape pen and basically took whatever the person at the store gave me not knowing about vaping at the time. I soon after realized I would rather have gotten something higher watts.

It had been my backup battery for a while as I got a subbox shortly after the I stick giving me 2 batteries and 2 tanks.

When the USB charger on the subbox crapped out I went back to the I stick instead of getting an external charger.

To be honest I'm surprised they've lasted as long as they have being cheap slave labor crap and taking plenty of falls.

Its weird that the atomizer short error showed up while vaping instead of after being dropped for example but I guess the board or internal battery just retired.

Not too upset did my best to problem solve didn't work out waste of time more than anything.

I had resigned myself to getting an external charger for the subbox battery but I'm thinking I may just get the kanger dripbox instead. For about 10 bucks more I get a squonking mod, dripper and can charge the damn battery.

I'm sure it won't compare to fancy drippers but I've only tried a dripper like once and loved the flavor but don't want to deal with dripping on the coils constantly especially on the go or working so the whole squonk thing sounds cool.
