I guess because I am new I can only post in this forum.
If needed to be moved, I suppose that's what moderators are for.

So when using my istick 40 in TC mode, after about 5 minutes of not vaping, or if I turn it off, the next time I vape is crazy lacklustre at the same temp setting. I have fiddled with it, and have found a workaround, but I hate having to do it.
What I have to do is, with the device on, I take an initial puff knowing it will be not great. I then remove my updated STM atty and click the fire button several times. It will say no atomizer on the display. Then, I reconnect the atty and press fire. The display asks if it's a new coil. I push up for yes and only then will I get good vapeage. As long as I chain Cape it and not ignore it for 5 minutes, I do not have to do this again until the next session or smoke break.

Hope this helps those with this problem, or if there's another solution, please pipe up.

have you tried locking the resistance in tc mode?

Lock/Unlock atomizer resistance:

In TC-Ni mode, press and hold the Fire Button and the Up Button for 2 seconds, a padlock symbol will appear over the ohms (Ω) symbol When locked.

Please be sure to lock the atomizer base resistance when the atomizer coil is cool (at room temp).

In Locked Mode when you remove the atomizer the battery can retain the locked base resistance, although the coil resistance may increase due to the rise of temp.

In Unlocked Mode, When you remove a coil and put a new/same coil back on, the device may ask you "New Coil UP Same Down" If a new coil press Up if the same coil press Down.

Please be sure to unlock the resistance when changing the atomizer to a new one with a different resistance.

I just figured out the resistance lock this evening. Thing is that whenever I saw someone mention locking the resistance, I for some reason thought it was when you lock the temp by holding up and down for a few seconds. I'm just hoping that I'm the one that is messed up, and not the istick. It works great with kanthal wire in wattage mode, but I don't have any atm only ni200 28

I only mention that because the topic came up at work. One guy has a smok 80 and he says he can run ni200 in both modes, or kanthal in both modes. I'm thinking he's full of tish. I tried mine and it will just say atomizer low in wattage mode using ni200
yeah - he's vapin' dooky, lol - the m80 plus does NOT work in TC mode - it does some kind of half-baked emulation, but is not reliable in TC mode (I have one - it's GREAT in wattage mode, won't touch the TC mode)... ni200 should not be used except in TC mode at all, from what I understand - I could be mistaken (and hopefully someone will weigh in on this, if so)

i have been doing a 9 wrap/ 3.5mm/ 28g ni200 vertical coil build in the kanger coil heads for my brother in law that seem to work like a champ - and yeah, the stock ones seem to be doodoo... though they have a vertical ni200 coil coming out (may be out already - they seem to be including them with the black subtank plus kits)...

hough they have a vertical ni200 coil coming out (may be out already - they seem to be including them with the black subtank plus kits)...

Luckily my local vape shop sells singles of all their coils, I'll have to give them a shot once they are out! Ty for info.

I haven't even thought of rebuilding them vertically, I still buy the horizontal ones, the biggest problem with the original occ coils is the cotton is way way too dense blocking juiceflow and causing dry hits at higher suggested wattages, I rewick them even when they are brand new, I can fire the 1.2 ohm at 30 watts without any dry hits and the .5 ohm at 40 watts, get much better flavor and vapor production with higher VG juices than the original wick.
