iStick 50W and Lemo2 starter here

Hi all,

Just to introduce myself, I live in South Africa and just got an istick 50W with Lemo2 rta. I am so happy and will probably do my first build today. I bought enough 28 gage A1 Kanthal wire and cotton. My thoughts at this point is to go same diameter as the air hole in the center (3mm i guess), just do about 10 wraps, slightly apart (macro right?) and then I will post some pictures and the ohm reading here. I may add some comments about the hit/flavour/heat/wattspot etc compared to the supplied 0.6 Ohm coil. I am hoping for a coil close to 1-1.2 ohm so I can save some juice and battery life...

Anyone out there have some ideas for me?

Ive been fine with the lemo at around 1.2Ω I'm using 26g and currently 2.5mm so 9 wraps has me at 1.2Ω.
Wick ends touching the deck , then I put on the chamber put some juice on the wick and gently push the wick ends away from the side of the chamber.
Currently using it at 18 watts.

That is exactly the ohms I would like to get, do you think with 28g and 2.5mm I should make it 8wraps? Also should I keep the winds slightly apart for better wicking?

28 g and 2.5mm would be about 6 - 7 wraps to get 1.2Ω depending on the leg length. Length of the wire from the end of the coil to where it connects to the positive or negative.

If your putting the wires through the holes then your leg length will be longer than wrapping the wire under the screws. I wrap mine under the screws.

I just wanted to second that. I really like the Lemo done that way, and I move from 16-20 watts during the day depending on how I feel. I am running mine on an IPV mini 2 right now, but it's a nice setup on the Istick 50 as well. On my 50 (when it was working ) I could get almost three days on a charge with another device in rotation.

Can you confirm the inner diameter please - I'm thinking to keep it the same in bottom air hole?

Also are the wraps touching or slightly separated?

Are you building on screw heads or the holes?

2.5mm wrap slightly separated paper thin separated and I'm building on the screw heads hope it helps

Confession time. I ended up doing 6 full winds around a 3mm rod with 28 Gage A1 Kanthal, excluding the legs and ohmed out on 1.5 ohms. Mounted on screw heads. I started her up on 10W and what a surpise.... full vapor, full flavour! Pushed it up in increments of 5W and first flavour taint at 30W on second lung hit.

I will take some time but I am sure the sweet spot is around 15W for me. Cannot wait to see the battery life improve from the 0.5 ohm coil this unit came with.... will report back on my final impression .... but my first one is: AWESOME

Make sure to check your build with an ohm reader or DMM before putting it on your mod and firing it.

Thanks Susan, this was my first build so the 0.3 ohm margin is acceptable to me - I was on steam-engine.org but thanks for the other link. My iStick 50W gives me an ohm reading on the led screen before I even fire it, so all good. Your advice is appreciated.
