Hello. i'm new to this forum, my name is Cody.
i've been vaping for a while but just upgraded to a Cool Fire 4 Plus with an isub g. it came with two normal 0.5 coils and i also bought some 0.5 clapton coils as replacements. at first i was just using the normal 0.5 at about 25 watts and it was working well. then i decided to try the 0.5 clapton and the flavor was even better.

but after about one tank on that coil i went to refill it, and after doing so it started to taste burnt. not a complete dry hit, but just a burnt flavor. still a normal amount of vapor. it now seems to have this flavor even when i put in a new coil. why is this? i made sure to prime the coils and everything. Thanks

Hhhmmm... you might try dumping the juice in the tank and giving it a good cleaning before installing a new coil. Welcome to the board.

i tried refilling it with new juice and it didn't help with the clapton coil, but on the normal one its tasting a bit better now. still not getting as much flavor as i was. so i guess the clapton somehow got burnt out after only a day of vaping...

Entirely possible, depending on setvwatts and how sweet your juice is.

i was only using around 35 watts on that one, and it's rated up to 70. i was mainly using a custard/citrus juice so im not sure if thats the problem but i dont think so. and it's a pretty clear juice, as i heard darker juices go through coils faster

They tend to, yes, but also sweet ones. The sweetener carmelizes from the heat and gunks the wick. Then it wicks slower and can result in a burn. It's also possible you burnt the new coil with the first hit, if it was not completely soaked with juice.

I find the coils are good at 22 watts and under. But saying that I find the Isubs at 22 watts hits like other heads at 35 watts. Take out top screen. Carefully take a pin and push the ends of the cotton out the holes. Then twist the cotton and pull it out the cotton. Then wash coil. Then dryburn it till it glows red. Put new cotton and clip it 1/4 inch on both sides. Then take pin again and tuck cotton inside the holes. BANG! Now you have a brand new coil to reuse. Will be better than the stock one and no need to wind new coils. Just keep reusing. CHEERS!

thanks for the tip. i might try that, if i can figure out the source of the problem.
also, now the normal coil is tasting burnt again. i poked some holes in it but that didn't do much. and the clapton coils are vertical so i can't poke holes in that one. so far i've only been using these two coils, as i'm worried i'm going to mess up the new ones if i put them in...

i don't know what i could be doing wrong. i primed the coils well, let them sit for a while in the tank, and haven't vaped above the wattage range. i'm not even using high VG juice, only 50/50. any other ideas?

Two possible things.

1. The wattage level is too high.

2. Cotton us crammed in the coil And can't wick properly

Properly wicking a coil you want the wick just right..

Too little wick abd your atty will pop and spit.

Too much cotton and you will get dry hits or burn the wick

update: it seems the main issue was the e-juice i was using. at first it tasted great but now it always tastes burnt. maybe it needs more steeping but it's already a month old. anyways, thanks for the replies guys

Once you scorch it burn the wick. It tastes horrible till the head is replaced.
