I don't see that as a viable option. I fear the voltage drop would be horrible. You would also still need a new button. If you are going to Frankenstein it, I would suggest trying to find a replacement button (that's what you said broke I believe) that will fit at a hobbiest shop or home depot/lowes and wire it in. At least then you still have the protection circuitry

If you decide there is no repair option, I could certainly use it for parts! My neighbor dropped my first one off of a 2nd story deck onto a concrete patio and all but destroyed it. I have another one now, but I couldn't bring myself to trash the first one so it is in my garage in it's original case in pieces. To my knowledge, my button still works, but the entire outside looks like... well, you know. lol
