I own a VTR, and I'm liking it a lot. I've only used rebuildable atomizers that don't fit in the top ring, but the form factor is what pushed me to purchase (I like the idea that certain tanks would sit very low; tube mods seem to get tall, quick). That hasn't panned out yet, given that I need to use the extender, but I'm still quite happy with it.

That said, I see a 30+ watt box mod in my future, mainly for use with dual coil rebuildable atomizers. The VTR certainly performs well with my dual coil RDA, but it's forced me to use a thinner wire gauge than I'd prefer.

The VTR is feels very sturdy, about a pound with a full tank attached. I don't mind at all, but it is something to consider.

I think you'd be happy with either, and I do like my VTR quite a bit. I used a Cloupor 30 watt briefly, and it was pretty fun.

Happy shopping!

I have a VTR too, I thinned the ring to fit my Kayfuns rather than cutting it off.
If you don't want to modify the ring then you are severely limited in which atomizers you can use without having to use the ridiculous extension tube.

I would suggest getting a Cloupor instead. 30W gives you far more options for what you can do with it. I hardly use my VTR since getting a couple of Mech Mods.
It is fine with the Kayfuns and other single coil builds, but any decent dual coil setup needs more power to get decent performance. (RTAs such as Fogger and Orchid use dual coils)

As readeuler says, if you do ever decide you want to use an RDA on the VTR, you are forced into using higher gauge wire which has less surface area in contact with the wick compared to thicker gauges.

Another similar option is the Hana Mod Clone...
$49.00 HANA MODZ Pack DNA 30 Style Mod - 1*18650 / 7W-30W / battery not included at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
(Always check the reviews and discussions if buying from Fasttech)

So from what you are saying about fasttech I get the feeling they are not overly reliable or am I misinterpreting your statement? Thanks for the information

I buy a lot of stuff from Fasttech, I think it is amazing.

The reason I say check the reviews and discussions for the specific product you may purchase is because some of the items are not very good clones and some are amazing clones. The discussions on the product page are usually quite insightful, people there often are able to tell you whether or not it is worth buying (before anyone has it to review).

They also sell some genuine items, these are marked with 'authentic' in the title or description.

I got my VTR from them and saved around $30 or so.

The only downside is the shipping, sometimes it takes a while to get to you, but it is free. If you do buy from them then try to make sure you go with 'registered China post' or similar, this for me has been great (last two orders 8 days from ordering to being in my hand). Select it from the additional options in the shipping section thing. (time to USA may differ slightly to the UK time)

If you go with VTR, it can output a maximum of 5 amps, so your battery had better be able to keep up. I believe (but am not certain!) that the Cloupor has a 10 amp limit.

For the VTR, I'd go with any unprotected IMR with at least 10 amps, and for the Cloupor, I'd make sure to get one that can handle at least 20 amps. More is always better, and more likely to be useful in the future, so (at least) 20 amp unprotected IMR's would be a good bet either way. Get a good battery from this list

And I personally would avoid the Efests.

I've been using a Nitecore Intellicharger, and it's worked fine for me.

What's with all the slagging of Efest batteries? We use them here and they are great. They perform as well as the Sony, are cheaper, and we don't get counterfeits because we deal directly with Efest. (there are a LOT of counterfeit VCT4/5s around).

Busardo recently tested the Sonys and Efest cells and basically found the same thing.

No intention of bashing, just my personal preference. Listing the purple 2500 mah 18650's with a 35A limit bugs me. I don't trust that rating, hence the company, by extension. I'm sure most of their batteries perform perfectly well inside the operating specs, but they've given us a reason to question exactly what those specs are.
