It is the opposite. If you build a dual coil with 2.0 ohm on each wire, you will wind up with a total resistance of 1.0 ohms.

Building the ithaka with a single coil is easy. You just take 2 strands of silica and tie the resistance wire around them to make an X. Then you put the NR leads down on one side on the positive end and the opposite side on the negative end.

The provari v2 will fire a 1 ohm coil fine.

Personal assumption.

Op, some have claimed no issues running .8ohm. Others report unable to run anything below 1.1 - 1.2ohm YMMV

You just have to test and see what results. All Manufactured electronic devices have some variance, unit to unit. That is why most items list or have tolerance specs. i.e. with-in +/- %

I have two ProVari 2.5's which both will run a 1.0 ohm dual-coil in my Hercules up to 4v. They're rated @ 3.5 amps, but, will do 4 amps with no errors. I used an inline volt meter to confirm the 4.0v to the Herc. Running 4.0v is too hot for my taste.. I prefer 3.8v. :)

While reviewing this table, be aware that this is the guaranteed production test limit. Because of part variations, typical unit outputs are higher than what is displayed in this table for both models.

I was just lucky with these two I suppose, since I do enjoy the regulated 3.8v. ;)
