Hey guys, I'm having trouble also. I have 3mm silica with about a six wrap of 30 gauge kanthal and nickel which I twist. Im not getting any vapor at all, when I know this thing is a steam machine. I'm getting less flavor and less of a throat hit than I would be from a cartomizer at this point. I have my wicks in the X formation, I have a fresh 18650 in there, I'm using the native connection on my GGTS, and this probably my 10th build of it in the past 3 days and I can't seem to get it right. I've watched JC west's set up, Scott bonner's video, bishop's video, imeo's video, and I'm following exactly what they're telling me to do, I just can't get the fantastic vape out of this thing that everyone describes. Any tips, or help will be greatly appreciated! I would even make a video showing me setting it up if it would help get to the bottom of it. My ithaka is a beautiful peacock, and I want it to fly!!!

Drake you posted in wrong section of forum. If you seen the video or my videos i never use 30 gauge wires in ithaka. do the following buy yourself some premades before trying to attempt making coils. Making coils is not hard but it can be challenging for some.

For instance you haven't indicated what ohms and what non resistance wires you are using. Also you havent indicated if your using a multi meter to measure the ohms of the coils. before mentioning no vape is happening we need to know what ohms you are running. If you don't know how to use anything mentioned above then get yourself some premade wires from cov or vassilis.

And for next time start a new thread and not derail a topic that is going on here which was eakwool and gg vapemail.

Sorry buddy, I didn't mean to anger or offend you with my post. I'm still new to ECF so I'm not sure what to put where. I've watched your videos on YouTube and have seen the killer coils you build so I just figured I would ask you. I didn't realize I was out of place with this post. Thanks for letting me know!

Im not angry nor upset with you Drake, some how the way I write can be very direct do to the line of work I do. I forget when I write on forums that its more hobby than place of work. Welcome Aboard and hit me up if you have skype i be happy to show you how to do it.

I've been trying out various Ekowool sizes with both single coil and dual coil configs. The 3mm is too thick - it is a bit thicker than 3mm silica, and when I try to build it, the Ekowool gets stripped. The 1mm is a bit narrow, but works, but the 1.5mm - which is not hollow - doesn't seem to keep up well. I will try the 1.5mm with your third naked wick at some point. The 2mm Ekowool works best in both single and dual coils.

The best vape I've gotten so far - and I'm a newbie to all this, so this is with my limited practice - is with 0.5mm Kanthal A-1 ribbon wire. It took a few tries to bind it to the 32g nickel NR. Just a single coil 1.5 ohm around 2mm Ekowool is astounding, my best vape in any device thus far. And due to the low resistance of the 0.5mm ribbon, you basically are building a microcoil, you barely see any wick peeking through.

Hey guys,
I have a bit of a problem with my ithaka. I have a built with 2x 2.5 ohm coils and using 2mm hollow ekowool. Everything looks good, the vapor is really good but the problem i am having is with the feeding.
I have by basic feeder open on both coils, but i get dry hits all the time. to remedy this i need to open the mouthpiece feeder all the day to half for the coils to get any juice. Even using this, when i try to rebuilt my col again i noticed that the wick was not wet at all in the section where it screws in the basic feeder. the wicks were both dry in that section. and i dont know why. i tried this 2 times and the same results. am I doing something wrong? why is the bottom feeder not working for me?

IMO ekowool is a bad feeder compared to silica or cotton. I couldn't make it work other than using krinkle.

How is it wicking? What kind of juice? Liquid control?

Mine is not wicking at all. Every draw I need to let it sit until I can have another one. I'm using 2mm ekowool, and kanthal/NR wire.
I've tried building it a couple times and the same problem every time.
I think I should start using 1.5 mm ekowool.
But I see all this people using 2mm wick with no problem. I don't know what to say

Since I posted this, I've switched to 36g Kanthal around 2mm Ekowool dual coil @ 1.5 ohms. The base is setup with the gaps @ 90 degrees to the wicks, and liquid control barely open (about half a turn). I've been using Pluid since I got my SS tank replacement. I'd say the vapor is good but not great, but the flavor is outstanding.

Can you explain this better, I am not following :(

When you are building, you have to screw the threaded tube onto the ceramic with the wick and coil. There are two slots in the bottom o this SS tube. If you tighten it withe the two slots aligned where the wicks and wires descend to the bottom of the ceramic, you get juice flow through the two slots onto the wicks where they rest on the side of the ceramic. If you screw it on so the slots are not aligned with the wick/wire channels, juice will only feed through the juice control, where the coils are at the top of the ceramic.

Here's a picture of the latter, with the slots clearly shown at a 90 degree angle to the descending wick/wire channels:

In this case, no juice will flow though those slots.
