Ithaka question in regards to dual coil

Hello E-Cig Forum!

Just got a Ithaka and I want to build it into a dual coil set up. I've read the ithaka official, but its all to confusing with everyone going different routes. I just want a good configuration for the mods that I have.

I currently own a Nemesis and Bagua mod, but just been using protanks.

I purchased NR-R-NR ready wires on FT in 1.8 ohm (I'm thinking this might be too low for a dual?)

I purchased 3mm Silica Braided Wick

Questions:

1) Did I purchase the right ohm wires?
2) How many coils should I put on each wick?
3) With this setup could I do fancy setups like microcoil, or double wrap onto (2) 3mm wicks?

I probably have a ton of more questions, I think the ithaka might be over my head... but this will get me started.

Thanks in advance! Happy vaping!

Okay, a few notes from working with my Ithaka's.
First, you are going to have a difficult time fighting 3mm Braided into place. Have tried it with 2mm and it was completely unbraided by the finish. Have noted 2mm Silica works very well and wicks excellent.

Second, if you are using Quality IMR batteries, 2 x 1.8 ohm is fine. You should net out around 1.8(may slightly vary)

Third, No fancy coil work needed. Hold wire near the n-r-n welds and wrap the Resistance wire fully to the wick. Space evenly and close enough to fit the cup area.

You can also order some higher ohm NRN wires from Stormy's Vaper Cellar that are comfortably long enough to work with.
I keep 1.8, 2.2 and 2.5ohm handy.
A simple X is the most productive placement, however - press the first coil down and place a piece of wick(1mm or so) on top. Then add the second wick/coil.again, make sure this one is not sitting to high. Yuo don't wast it to short on the closed chimney.

2 1.8 coils will give you very close to 0.9 ohms. Are you pretty experienced with building the Ithaka? There are a lot of moving parts with that atty, so I always found it difficult to wrap dual coils when I used to use the clone.

Yea, I have no problem with rebuilding it. I saw many vids and I'm pretty confident. Problem is in the vids, everyone is doing something different and I just want the common dual coil build with the right ohm ready wires. According to this thread, I guess I should buy 2.5 or 3.0 ohm ready wires, which should give me 1200-1500 ohm on a dual coil build, in X set up.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The only reason I bought 1.8 ohm was because I saw a vid of some guy doing it, but seeing the OEM setup comes with 2.5 ohm spare wires for single coil, I assume I should try to get to 2.5 ohm if possible?

Yeah, some people like the big hits of sub-ohm coils (0.9 ohms with a full battery on a mech is nearly 20W). I'm not a fan personally though, and if you use a regulated mod or a kick, it probably won't fire on a sub-ohm. Personally, I'd be going for 2 x 3.0 ohm coils - 1.5 ohms is about 12W on a full battery, and about 6-7W at 3.2V, so you should notice when your battery is running low if you're not using a kick. I don't really see the appeal of higher power than that.

Of course, at the end of the day it's all personal preference. I'd recommend new vapers start with a VW/VV mod so that they can find their preferred power level.

Thanks PDFFS

I guess I will keep the 1.8 for single coil and I just got some 3.0 for dual coil. I believe this should be a good setup for a Mech Mod with 3.7v
