I trying to wire ithaka, been having a lot problem, I tried at first wire 28ga sub ohm .7 and it fire very slow, so I read up using non resistance wire, so I end up running micro parelle coil with NR wire, and it was working awesome, but then everytime I add juice I guess it move the unit, and short out, so I take it apart trying to fix it, couldn't get it working, so I end up ripped out that coil and made another one.
well it work sometime then doesn't work sometime so I ripped that one out then I went with just micro coil but I gave a 14wrap, cuz I got me chi_you couple days ago with 18350, didn't want to run too low of ohms, well didn't fire up right away, and very weak, so I reducing the coil, down to 11-12 coil still firing slow, I Have NR wire running. and all my coil is tight and torched. I m sooooooo frustrated with this ithaka. when it work, its awesome unit, but just not realiable :(

all I got is 28ga wire, some silica wire left and NR wire, anyone can help?dual coil? single coil? low wrap??? I just want this thing to work, I use 79vg mix. so I need a hot coil.

Ithaka is tricky. There are many videos on joining resistance and non-resistance wire. Also, you can get Ready Wires that work fine and they are inexpensive.....$6.00 per hundred as I recall. You can get them in 1.8 ohm and 3.0 ohms at some places so you can use double coils and make low resistance or medium resistance. I rarely use resistance below .9 ohms. That's a lot of heat. You have to make sure your air flow is sufficient to take care of the heat or you're going to burn them out. My coils are .9 - 1.5 ohms generally, and I get all the vapor, flavor and throat hit I can handle. I had to make special juice with lower nic and slightly higher VG to use at the lower resistances, otherwise, the vape was too much. YMMV. Can't wait for some shops to carry the joiners that can instantly weld the wires together.

yea ithaka is beautiful but is so frustrating unit, when it work, I love it, cuz I m sooo picky, kanger did well for me till I went thru so called mid-life crsis, and went back smoking(vaping just didn't help at the time), now I tried kanger, just doesn't do it for me, so I got into sub ohm, and feel like sub ohm or around that is where I like it, ithaka for sure helped a lot, but problem with it, I always have a down time with it, something would go wrong when I try to add more juice in, coil came apart(due to adjustable mouth piece is grabbing the coil unit, making it come undone), have to redo it again, arrrrrrrr. lol
I just did a micro parelle coil again, and twisted the wire, and work good again, I think really I need joining them, I think that's my major problem is that. hopefully I can get this thing stable where I can start vaping again, and quit smoking again.

theres a post somewhere making ur arc welder, have u seen it?.

I've been having some similar issues myself. At first I had the bouncing ohm issue, and now for the life of me I am unable to get the piece to register that I have anything coiled up in it. Basically, the wiring looks bang on and in position to me, but the SVD just reads "NON" when I check the resistance.

Where were you seeing the ready wire @ 3 ohms? That'd be ideal for me to wire up a dual coil setup, but the highest I've been able to find is 2.5 ohm.
