other forums, such as insiderforums.com -- allows users to post feedback for user individually (like if they do trades, good sales, or good purchases). It allows negative, positive, and a neutral i believe. this would mainly apply to people who don't have their own "feedback thread", i.e. personal use buyers/sellers. It's nice to know that somebody has a good rep and feedback before you deal. Excluding suppliers and businesses.

It allows anybody, at any time, to view any user's iTrader profile and all of it's information and reviews. The iTrader pretty much allows feedback on a transaction. say you do a deal, and its prompt, and good communication..you put the link to the deal thread, then write a description. If you get burned, or poor transaction qualities you can leave a neutral or negative and then write up some details. That way if somebody go to deal with a user who has scammed 5 people prior, they can be aware and know to find somebody else to deal with.

Does it require that engage in an actual transaction before you are able to rate them?

why else would you want to rate them if you haven't taken part in a transaction with that user? If you really want to post a review of the person WITHOUT actually doing a deal.. in the "deal thread URL" you can just put like ecf dot com or something

Back in the "wild west" days of ebay any user could post FB for any other user without a transaction having occurred. That was the reason for my question.

The problem with the whole "feedback" system is the abuse/extortion that can occur.

thats what mods, banning, and suspensions are for.
mods will be able to delete iTrader submission i believe. (if abuse was the issue)
Although a negative feedback usually doesn't dictate a BAN -- if that negative feedback reports of scamming, or non-shipping with no communication at all... thats definitely a banning scenario

Then be prepared to get a whole bunch more mods. The number this forum currently has will not be near enough...........

At some stage we'll be revamping the Classifieds section, totally rebuilding it. Till then I think the simplest way to give sellers a pos or neg rep is to simply post in the Feedback thread there.

All we are talking about is the Classifieds, yes? So it makes sense to have the feedback / rep right there. I wouldn't want to see a system implemented where a member gets some sort of rep tag that sits on their name everywhere they go. Diss one guy then you are permanently tagged 'D-minus' or whatever.

I don't see what's wrong with having a list of seller's names - a thread for each if you like - with posts giving a rating from A to D. You'd title your post like:
PhillySam - D
Then in the text write how he posted it 3 weeks later and sent short on the items. Or,
NiteRiderz - A
Received 2 days later, all as advertised, well packed.

Seems enough to me. So it needs that whole area sorted out. OK - how about this: we create a new sub-forum, Seller Feedback. In there, we move all those feedback posts. There is a thread created for every seller.

To post and give feedback, you search for the username. If you find a thread for that user, you post in it. If not, you start a new thread. You title your post as above, so it's really easy to find, and people can get a good idea of that person's rep just from scanning the post titles, also you can search the name easily.

Yes or no?

Yes... But i bet everybody will agree that iTrader is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier, much more organized, and specifically designed for this purpose. And i dont know many sites who have classifieds, or B/S/T (buy/sell/trade) threads that DO NOT utilize iTrader or iTrader 2.0. Just my opinion..
