So I'm vaping like crazy all day on my 901 but feeling terrible (which I think is why I kept vaping more — it just wasn't satisfying me). Tonight I tried switching flavors and that didn't help. Then I thought maybe I'd vaped too much and if I laid off it for an hour or so I'd feel better. Nope.

Finally I thought hmm.. maybe a fresh atomizer will help. HUZZAH! A few good hits with that and my head feels better, my stomach feels better and my chest feels better. I guess it should've been obvious to me that I'd been sucking harder and getting less, but the atomizer decline was so gradual that it made me forget how much vapor and flavor I was missing! And it's so effortless now too.

Anyway, I get a dunce award. But I'm still sort of a noob, so I guess it's all part of the learning curve, eh? :p

I have preached replacing them once every other month whether they are dead or not. They are consumables much like the oil or air filter in your car, you need to change it out every so often for peak performance. I have yet to have one die of natural causes. I use cartomizer style anymore but it is a good practice with the 3pc models.

It makes a big difference and you can only clean an atty a limited number of times. With what I'm saving over analogs, it's sure not going to bust any budget to spend $6.50 every 3-4 weeks replacing my 510 atty.

To be honest cleaning attys doesn't really work once the wick is cooked cleaning it wont make much differnce.

YES I had this problem where I wouldn't replace my atomizers because the vapor production was still decent but the taste just sucked! This was mainly for 801 atomizers after around 1.5-2 months - I've actually never had this problem with 901s because they just died on me completely when they failed. 510s on the other hand.... I'm still on my first 2 from 3 months ago!

For me, it's all about taste, so I use six PV's every day - each loaded with a different flavor. Even with rotating after just a few puffs, my attys declined after two months of heavy vaping. Yesterday I replaced them all with fresh attys and OMG THE DIFFERENCE IN FLAVOR IS AMAZING! * yes - I'm shouting * I couldn't throw the old ones out since they are still functional. Instead, I stashed 'em away in case I'm desperate if they are banned and I run out of usable fresh ones.

I agree that putting a new atomizer into use really reminds you how great vaping is. The other thing I found is that if the PV is starting to draw more slowly and the taste is dropping off it might be time to toss the cartridge or clean it (I'm talking about the cartridge itself, not just the filler material). I thought either my battery or atomizer was fading yesterday, but when I switched out the cartridge the 510 suddenly was putting out that familiar delicious fog.
So.... I think for a three part PV there are actually at least 5 things that could cause vapor quality or quantity to drop off:
  • Battery
  • Atomizer
  • Cartridge
  • Filler
  • Amount of e-liquid
