It's been two days... I don't want to smoke, but damn I watched a cig.

I guess I am one of the lucky few, when I finally decided I liked the juice my son brought me I gave vaping a try and haven't smoked since, that was almost two yrs ago. I only smoked 1/2 a day though and I started at 20mg of Nic, 70pg/30vg. I am now at 5mg and 50/50. My son gave me a great gift, vape on!

You're getting some great advice here. Here's my trifecta of how I quit:
1) two tanks, keep a high nicotine level in one (say 24mg) and your regular level in the other, only use the high nic when you're really struggling. It will help a bit.
2) find some flavors you LOVE
3) Don't beat yourself up if you're dual using or if you occasionally slip up. Count the ones you haven't smoked, not the ones you have.

You've taken a big step already! good luck!

I think this can clear some things up for you and possibly others on this forum.

Its still relatively new data but it makes sense because whenever I don't vape for a week or so I dont have the same cravings as I did with tobacco.
after struggling with depression in my youth, it's no wonder i was so driven to cigarettes. Thankfully vaping came along and now im here . Dont give up. Its all the mental challenge. And congratulations on your switch. Good luck!

A lot of it is state of mind, you really have to want this and commit to it. I treated vaping much in the same way I treated smoking triggers such as the first thing I grabbed in the morning, after I ate something, in the car, still went outside on work breaks... I just vaped instead of smoked and was able to quit day one after 30++ years of smoking. The tactile feeling of my personal vaporizer was a big help also, I started out on a cig-alike to keep that same cig feeling in my hand and vaped a menthol eliquid. To this day now 4 years later if I get a craving to smoke I break out the cig-alike and vape some menthol and it goes away.

I'll repeat what I've read here in the forums MANY times. Don't count the ones you smoke, count the ones you didn't.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 45 years. I knew I wouldn't quit immediately when I started vaping but when I took that first puff on my first mod I was convinced that it had the power I needed to do the job. When I started vaping around noon on a Sunday I had 6-7 cigs left. Smoked the last one the next morning. I made it thru 24 hours without a smoke for the first time in DECADES before I went and got a pack. That pack lasted 3 whole freaking days! Then I went 3 days before I bought my LAST PACK. I have to admit a bit of disappointment that time, but that pack lasted 5 days and I haven't had a smoke since they ran out. Over 2 months now.

Once again, if you know you're gonna quit don't sweat the ones you smoke. Empower yourself by counting the ones you didn't!
Thankyou. Getting on this here and reading everyone's supportive comments really has helped.

I'm a smoker for 14 years. I never touch ciggs since i start vaping on the very first day. I felt proud of myself for my determination. Seriously.
That's what I'm trying... damn that little empty feeling I still have inside... just trying to vape it away. It's been 5 days and at this point .... I'll be so ...... if I give up... so I'm vaping.

I used 2 different "cheats" to quit.

Morning Cig.

I kept one flavor of juice just for the mornings. Instead of reaching for the cig in the mornings I knew I had the one flavor juice I enjoyed waiting on me (a blueberry muffin type). After the morning vape I would not use this flavor for the rest of the day. What this did was to give me something to look forward to every morning instead of the cig.

This is really helpful. Thanks! I'm going to try this out.

This is exactly what I have done, and still do actually.

I have a "morning tank" that I use that is 6mg nicotine and my all day tank that is 2mg. I take a few puffs on the morning tank to get things going when I wake up and switch to the lower nic level when I'm ready to leave the house for the day.

I smoked analogs for 20 years unfortunately and was able to quit thanks to vaping after roughly a month. I don't think vaping and smoking at the same time is all that uncommon when first making the transition, so don't beat yourself up about it. You should WANT to vape, not force yourself to - at least that was my mindset. "I want to do this" and honestly when it wasn't working I'd go smoke an analog.

Keep it up and congratulations.

So I have been sucking on 18ml for two days but I still have this feeling... I think it's all the habits involved with smoking... but how have you del with the SWITCH.?
Hang in there!1 I went straight to vaping on 24 mg, was very hard for about two weeks. I really think I missed the ritual of smoking, not the cigarette itself, just as you said. After two weeks, new rituals in place, no more problems. But it did take a good deal of mental effort and commitment. I was wheezing at night and getting short of breath when I laid down. That literally disappeared after only 3 days! If that isn't incentive, I don't know what is. Good luck!

Yes i got your feeling bro. I keep telling myself that since i spent money on vape, then i'll have to make good use of it. So i never ever bother to think about ciggs. Imagine the picture that printed on the ciggs box (whatever cancer picture) and it makes me puke. Don't smoke, just vape! You can do it bro!

I started with 24mg e-cigs and i was lucky from the first day i was able to not NEED that smoke. It was after about 2 months that i had to have one went and got a pack and just about got sick. in other words we are all different I smoked for 30-33 years you are gonna have to try and find that fix for yourself although i will say joining this group is definitely a start in the right direction. Stick with the vape and keep lowering that nic level you can do it.

I need help getting one in where I live or I would have to bear the painful cold turkey of having to quit it altogether.
If you live in SG check out this forum: SG Vapers. Make sure you read all the "stickies" as there are special rules you must follow when posting due to the sensitivity of vaping in SG.

You won't be able to ask where to buy hardware/juice in SG as your government monitors/reads ECF forum posts. It's all explained here => Newbies Q&A Thread. [PLEASE READ]

If you are able to travel (and are willing to take the risk on getting back through customs with a mod) check out vape shops across the causeway. Be aware, customs is on "high alert".
You will not be able to post in the SG Vapers Forum until you have your first 5 posts (or replys) and the server updates at :25 past the hour.

One further word of caution from another SG member:
Even the walls have eyes and ears. That includes your FB wall. Watch your back too. They are looking and listening from every corner.
