It's harder to draw on my cartomizers after a couple of days. Why???

Hi! I'm new to vaping and am using my first set of cartomizers. I've been using several in rotation with different flavors so i don't know how long each has been used but I can say roughly around 2 days. In the beginning the vapor was easy to inhale but now I have to suck on my drip tip with a lot of force to get vapor out of it. Do you know why this is and if there is a remedy? i would appreciate your advice! Have a good day!

Hi!! Thank you for replying! I have an 808 Volt e-cig and have been using Volt cartomizers. None of my juices are dark and although I don't have much to compare them to, I don't think my juices are thick. I only use V4L Wowboy and madvapes Cotton Candy right now. Can I still try your idea with Volt cartomizers? Would I be hitting the atomizer with the needle or is it just an empty tube all the way through in there? Thank you!!

I can't off the top of my head remember if those are vertical or horizontal coil cartos. :glare: I use the Boge 2ohm (vertical coil) 808's on my Volt batteries. Did you get a burnt taste or off taste when you were vaping before the draw got tight? Might be a total loss if the filler is burnt. :(

Hi! The Volt cartomizers are horizontal coil. Someone told me to stay away from using vertical coil cartomizers and I don't know why! I trust your opinion since you are a ECF Veteran, so if you are using them with good results I don't know why someone said that. Do you know why? Oh yeah, a couple of them have given me a slight burned taste but when I re-filled them it went away so I just guessed the atomizer got too hot for the moment?

As with everything in vaping, it's personal preference. I've had better luck with vertical coils keeping up with my semi-chainvaping. I've never really had any carto taste good longer than 3 days of filling...and usually two days is the norm.

Next fresh one you get, just fill until the filler stops soaking it in. Overfilling can lead to problems too.

Good info. I suppose just because it works does not mean it is kind of shot and the flavors become muted or is that just me? I have had little luck in cleaning them, maybe another day? Or would cleaning them more frequently help?

I find Carto's taste better than atty's. I am trying to find out if my taste issue is related to too many watts or if it is just me and or my old carto's

I semi-chainvape too so I'm going to give those Boge 2.0 vertical cartos a try and see if I like them! Thank you for your advice about not over-filling!

I don't know if cleaning them more frequently would help! I heard that atomizers work better and last longer if you clean them so maybe that's the same with cartomizers since they have an atomizer in them? I'm going to clean some of my hard-to-draw-on ones and then come back with a report tomorrow if it made a difference to me! I think the flavor is muted in my old cartomizers, and that with the very tight draw, i'm not enjoying it! I'm going to give them one last shot after they're cleaned and if they don't improve they're going into the trash!

P.S. Can someone tell me why it is important to keep your cartomizers wet? I have been vaping mine dry before re-filling them. Could that be a part of my problem? How do you know when to top them off???

I don't recall what PV you have BUT, 2.0ohm(low resistance) cartos are not meant to be used with slimline, ciggy sized batt, they can damage them...2.5-3ohm cartos are what you want to use with the smaller batts........

p.s. keep in mind cartos are meant to be disposable and if I get 4-5days out of one, it is time to trash it...I have tried various cleaning methods with only minor success, they are just never as good again and with paying under a buck50 for one, into the trash it goes........mj

Cleaning can work, but results vary for everyone.

Typical for me is about 22 - 24 ml of eliquid through a carto before it's time to toss it or clean. I've used a lot of Boge, v4l cool carts, and now Ikenvape fusions. I do use a relatively clear eliquid, one I make myself.

At the end of the day, it is always good to step back and compare to smoking. I smoked a pack a day, and cigs are very pricey where I live, $8.50+/pack. Even pretty good cartomizers top out at about $2, so if one lasts two days that's $1/day.

I've been a carto person all along, only just started using an atomizer to test some DIY eliquids. With atomizer key is getting just the right amount of eliquid on them, I've heard. Guess I'll find out soon -- I'm getting a PV that's more atomizer oriented (though have cartos to fall back on) :)

Hi! Mine is an 808 Volt. Thank you for the advice! I didn't realize that 2.0ohm meant low resistance. I thought there were 2.0's that were either regular OR low resistance but I guess that number is always low resistance. Thank you madjack! :) P.S. I've counted about how many cartos I've went through in the past 6 days, and if I get rid of the not-so-good-anymore ones it means I'm going through them one a day!!! maybe it's because I'm vaping them dry before re-filling them??

That will burn them quickly and you can taste that when it happens.

I find a carto tank useful. People say they extend the life but I think that is mostly because they stay primed better.

Keep in mind tank carto's are not the end all either but I find mine useful.

Hi! I think you're really right about comparing the cost I have to spend on cartos compared to the outrageous price I would have to spend on cigarettes! For me, the cartos are roughly $1.80 each, and a pack of the inexpensive cigarettes I was buying were $4.00 a pack. SO that means that even if I just toss a cartomizer each day I'm still saving $2.00 a day! I think I'm going to do that because I'm really unhappy with the cartos after the first day. maybe it's just me because people speak highly of Volt cartomizers, but I want that same heat, flavor and vapor I have on day one with a cartomizer! Good luck with your new PV and dripping! That's exciting!!! I'm going to start dripping to test some juices too!

low resistance is anything below 2.5ohm...standard or regular is 2.5 to the low 3s and above that is considered high resistance...you should NEVER vape a carto dry...I actually top mine up every couple of hours max...it keeps the coil good and damp and lessens "gunk" build up on/in them and keeps them from burning the filler...that is why the carto-tanks are becoming so popular.......

I know as mention prior and I have been told this that dark juice tend to trash carto's quicker. However if that means 3 days vs 7 then so be it. I want my dark rich chocolate pralines. :p
I totally hear you on not giving up your yummy chocolate pralines! Since we gave up smoking cigarettes we should treat ourselves!!!

I guess I'm a bit different. I think a carto tastes better about day 3. For me, they can last about two weeks, but at the week and a day or so is when the flavor goes, the draw is going, time to toss. I keep them moist, a few drops every hour or two, or when flavor is going down. You can tell by looking in the top - if it is dry and white or not the color of your juice, it is time to add juice. Flavor is your first signal. If you look at the top and it is gross gray/blackish - it is time to toss it.

I realize that I have been burning them because when i get that taste, that's when I know to re-fill them! that's terrible! But when I re-filled them I didn't taste the burned taste anymore so I'm not sure if I actually burned them or not? The carto tank sounds useful, especially since I let them go dry but I don't think they are really used on pen-style e-cigs?
