Ahhhh, I just got one of my orders a day earlier than expected from Amazon! I'm gonna do my first Shake & vape recipe :banana::banana: Oh my goodness, I'm so excited!!! lol :pervy:

Just so I don't kill myself in the process:shock:... I've had my nic in the freezer for the past 3 or 4 days. Do I need to bring it to room temp before using? :danger:Omygoodness, I feel like everything I've read and learned has went out the window! It has to be the excitement, I'm sure lol :rickroll:

Your excitement is contagious! LOL! Now I wanna go mix some!

I use my nic base cold, although I keep my "working bottle" in the fridge. The backups are in the freezer. Anyway, I use a syringe with no needle to draw up what I need. It's thick, but hey, it saves me all that warming up time, and with no needle on the syringe, it pulls right up. Mine is VG based, so it's pretty thick.

I have 100mg/vg .. but I have the plastic pipettes, as recommended from someone here. I figure I can just toss em when finished. On to Mixology 101:banana::banana::banana: I'm gonna rock this:thumbs: Watch:headbang::rickroll: lol

My advice - Be extremely careful if you're going to be using pipettes to try to accurately measure your 100mg Nic in VG. If you're just using one to get the Nic in VG out of the bottle and put it into a graduated cylinder or marked beaker to make your mix...just ignore the following. If not though, be aware of a few things:

You'll get a lot of air bubbles, and because the VG is SO thick when cool...it's difficult to make it work properly like it does with thin liquids. The bulb on the pipette will just squeeze all the way together many times, while you're trying to get the VG into the rest of the pipette...again because it's so thick. It's very difficult to get a real accurate measurement, too, not only because of the above things. Most of them (at least the 1mL ones for sure) aren't marked except at the top...and half way up at the halfway mark. What about the other "step-downs" below the .5 mark though. Do you know which one is the .25 or even less if you need it?

If I were you I'd use a syringe with a Luer Lock blunt needle tip on it. Much much more accurate than a pipette. There's still quite a bit of "suction" pulling the plunger up, but it's definitely better than trying to use a pipette.

Just my 2 cents worth though. :)

Why do people insist on doing it the hard way? Pull the plunger, plug the needle, and pour your liquid in from the top.

@retired1 - About this, from one retiree to another: "Why do people insist on doing it the hard way? Pull the plunger, plug the needle, and pour your liquid in from the top."

I guess I "do it the hard way" because I draw my Nic from the 2 oz. bottle I keep it in...and just squirt it right into the small opening of the 30-50mL bottle I'm making my mix in. No need to take 2 hands to pour it into the syringe, then from the syringe into the mix bottle. Plus, there's no mess, no potential running down the outsides of the small bottle opening, and especially in the case of VG...I know I'm getting "all of it" that I sucked up with the plunger into the syringe. And, there's no waiting for it all to run out of the end of the syringe into the bottle.

Also, my method is a throwback of sorts I guess, to my old days in Chemistry class. I taught science for 30 years, too, so precise measuring habits are hard to break after that long! :)

By the way, I DO take my own Nic in VG out of my fridge and put it in the sink in a bowl of hot water before using it. I also give it a good shake, too. But, since OP was so excited about getting started...and she'd said she had her Nic in VG in her freezer, I thought I'd warn her about using VG while still cold and/or using a pipette for measuring it. :)

I ordered some this morning. I definitely don't like nor trust those plastic pipettes. Way too flimsy I think! So, I never did make any juice lol. The scale I ordered was not in the box :grr: I was so bummed. They're sending out another today. Thanks everyone for all the tips about warming up the Nic

I think we need to warn the USPS about JuicyJade.

I think you'll be glad you ordered some syringes. It'll be much more accurate measuring your liquids with them.

Pipettes are great though, for just transferring many liquids. I use them when doing Bill's Magic Vapor 100DT (100 drop test), which is making a small sample of a recipe to fine-tune it to your own tastes before you make a bigger batch of it. I use 1 pipette for each flavoring in the recipe I'm testing, as well as 1 for the VG, 1 for PG and 1 for the Nic in VG. If I'm doing more than 1 test at a time, and those recipes have some of the same flavorings in them...I don't need as many pipettes either.

I hope your USPS delivery doesn't take much longer. You seem to be "bursting with excitement" to get started. Kind of like kids were in my city when Legoland Florida was being built here, and they were all very excitedly waiting for opening day!

VG NIC yep you'll want to warm that up..... Sitting the bottle of NIC in a hot cup of water works great. I don't like recommending using the microwave as I've been scolded to many times by over heated NIC. I said I don't recommended it, I didn't say I don't do it anymore:) But for the most part I plan ahead and remove the NIC from the freezer well before hand giving it plenty of time to warm before I need it. VG unlike water heats very quickly in the Microwave.

if you decide to use the microwave loosen the cap, do no more then 5 - 10 second bursts tightening the cap, shaking and feeling the bottle for warmth between each shot. Luke warm is all you need. Let it sit a while before opening and for god sake be very careful. Bottles have been known to explode when over Nuked.
