No, you don't have to use the tank system if you'd prefer not to. There's dozens of ways you can use that ego battery. For starters I'd recommend getting:
a few standard resistance attys: Joye 510 Standard Atomizers
some low resistance attys: EM LR 510 Atomizer (Black) [VJALR510] - $6.95 : VaporJunction, E-Cigarette Supply
some drip tips to use with the above^: myPVshop Electronic Cigarettes - Electronic Cigarette Accessories
and some cartomizers: Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Boge Cartomizers
I chose the links above from random vendors in my bookmarks folder. But you can get those items from nearly any supplier here. Just look for the ones marked "510 compatible"
Again there are numerous ways to use an ego, but the ones above will get you started. Dripping with an atty and drip tip is a great way to experience new flavors, and once you find one you like, cartomizers will allow you vape that flavor for a longer time without refilling. Once you've tried that you can also look into tanks and some other options for your ego. Good luck

If your using a tank atomizer you'll have to use a tank with it, there built differently than a regular atomizer. If you read through "The Wonderful World of Vaping" in the ECF Library it'll explain the differences between atomizers, cartridges, cartomizers, batteries, and mods.
Most definitely. One of my favourite ways to use my eGo-T battery is with an LR atty and drip tip. You get tons of flavour, tons of vapor and can easily rinse them out to change flavours. LR cartos are sweet too.

WOOOOHOOOOO....Just ordered a 510 kit for my wife, a ego t tank for me and a sparkplug....all from myvapestore.com....I cant wait.
If you're on a computer practically 24/7, like me, I suggest getting a usb pass-through battery. I got my 1000 mAh pt from Cignot. It works like a charm, and I personally like the length better than the 650's.
You're all set! I'd order some cartomizers for the 510 for your wife. Much better vape and easier than filling the carts.
You can use them as well on your ego-T. Most people prefer LR cartomizers but they really shouldn't be used on your wifes 510. She should stick to SR cartos.

Really though, with a 1000 mah battery, you really don't need a pass thru since it lasts all day. I just say this because of all the batteries I've gotten, pass thru batteries seem to have the shortest life. That's been my experience. My two pass-throughs have died and my original batteries are still going strong.
