Having recently gotten my feet wet with DIY, and having had a fair bit of success, I have decided to start down the path of mixing flavors and working out some recipes. I do realize that it is a masters art, and probably wont make any fantastic juices until I really learn the ins and outs of the flavors I am working with.

With that in mind, and wanting to learn, I figure the best way would be to ask for some help! So below is a list of the flavors I have ordered plus flavors I have already at home. Would any of you kind vets of the DIY world have any recipe suggestions to try using this list? Most importantly, if at all possible, when suggesting a recipe could you give me some insight into why you use percentages or flavors the way you do?

Thanks for any input provided!

RY4D is my ADV. I usually mix it at 8% and add 1 drop of AP per 5ml for nuttiness. I also at times add 2-3% Caramel Original and 2% Vanilla Swirl or Bavarian Cream to it for more of a creamy texture. It makes a very mild tobacco juice with vanilla and caramel tones as well. I see you don't have AP so if you wish you can substitute 1-2% Hazelnut if you want the nutty flavor (I've been experimenting with the Hazelnut, but so far prefer AP).

An easy 1 is 4% Black Honey Tobacco all by itself. It's really quite nice but this one needs to steep. I'd say after 4weeks it's at it's best.

Cheers,
Steve

The TFA black honey tobacco at 7% is very good on it's own but needs 3 - 5 weeks steep time.

The ry4d is also very good a nice recipe for that

ry4d 7%
Baverian cream 2%

Steep 3 - 5 weeks

Keep in mind most tobaccos need to steep. You can speed up steep time with an ultrasonic cleaner. 1 hour in a UC equals approx 1 week steep time.
caramel 1%

Read my blogs before getting started

then read hoosier's blogs.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

Danny, I looked at the TFA Flavoring thread when I first received the Black Honey Tobacco and suggested use is 3-5%, so I made it at 4% and it seems plenty strong. You think it's better at 7%? Might have to give that a try.

Edit: I still have a little from my first batch - has to be at least 2 months old now. It turned pretty dark as it's aged.

I've been making it consistantly for months now at 7%. But I like a stronger tobacco and I started a thread a while back spicifically for BHT and the consensis was 5 - 7%. Flavor strength is really a personal preference so best advice as always is to start low and work up. I have backed off using the term "taste is subjective" because it seemed to rub people the wrong way but all I can say is use common sense when deciding on a percentage.

Thanks for the pointers guys!

A couple questions - I could probably borrow the use of an ultrasonic cleaner until getting my own. As to the quoted 1 hour of UC = 1 week steeping time. Can you simply use the UC for 4-5 hours and vape? Does it still require some good old fashioned time?

Wingsfan, or anyone, what is AP?

Danny - I had read hoosiers blogs before, but not yours, will get to reading.

Wingsfan, or anyone, what is AP?

Acetyl Pyrazine 5% (PG)
taste description:
at 10.00 ppm. Roasted, nutty, bready and yeasty, with popcorn and corn chip nuances
good for graham gracker flavors (enhancer)

Your Welcome and There you go on the AP. :vapor:

Cheers,
Steve

Edit On the UC. I still think the juice needs a couple of days to settle after using the UC. I don't have one though, I use the old fashioned way, I wait
