Since the day I started to vape, a fair amount of people tried to talk down of my vaping, saying it was "unhealthy, and not a proper and fool-proof way to quit.

Well... I ask them, "Okay, if this hasn't worked, even though I don't smoke anymore, what is?" ...They usually are rendered with silence.

But in all seriousness, why can't they call these a quitting method? Most e-juice vendors have grades of nicotine that drop down to zero. It WORKS for crying out loud. When is the last time you heard a success story with the patch? What about the sure-to-work nicotine gum?

My success story is this: I bought my e-cig last month proudly, and I haven't smoked an analog since!

From experience I can tell you not everyone will fall in love with your new toy. I did my research and felt it might work for me so I went for it. Within 36 hours of receiving my order I puffed my last analog and haven't looked back. I don't gloat over my success and don't pout over comments from the occasional naysayer. May not help everyone quit smoking but it helped me.

OP: Enjoy your success and just let that be an example in itself.

Oh definitely :D I am proud of vaping, but I don't overdo my excitement. I kinda like to vape alone, rather than being with the smokers, unless they're my friends. :)

I've noticed the most unusual reactions from people around me.

Non Smokers: Praise the e-cig. I've showed people at work, my wife, friends and family. I haven't come across a non smoker who didn't completely get the point of the e-cig. As far as they're concerned it has to be better than smoking and it sure as hell smells better.

Smokers:

The guy who disses the e-cig: I have one friend who tells me how @@@ the e-cig is. He hates it for some reason. He just thinks its false advertisement. As the months go by and he sees I'm still not smoking, he still justifies his hatred to the e-cig because they cost so much. In the meantime he continues to smoke 20 a day - but vaping is @@@.

The perplexed smoker who marvels at how well they work (for you). I have 3 family members who fall in this category, they praise the e-cig, and love to see me smoke it, like its some kind of toy. They'll always remark on how nice the toffee juice smells. They used to question me about it with some enthusiasm, but all those questions have stopped. They won't have anything bad to say about the e-cig, but are not bothered to try it, and although its working for me, they see it as a novelty.

The smoker who tries it:
If you're not bored to tears yet, another 2 sub groups here - the ones who quit and become vapers / non smokers.
And those who quit and return to smoking because their batteries die, or they can't be bothered with the hassle of getting into vaping properly for it to make a lasting difference.

lol - still awake? Ok thats all I gotta say!

It's been 2 months for me, and I couldn't be happier. LOL on the smoker/non-smoker comparisons. I will pitch it right yet - Or they'll see that I am not smoking draw their own conclusions ;).

Interestingly enough, a friend I am trying to convert said "umm I saw you sneak a smoke today", and I responded with no, actually that's me increasing my VG in my mix, and spent 10 minutes explaining/demoing :D

Can hardly wait, I have a retirement party to attend in less than a week with friends I haven't seen in a spell. 95% of them are hardcore smokers........ Let the vaping begin!!

Now that should be interesting Mathew. Let us know how that party goes. Good luck with that. I'm anxious to hear.

I really haven't been out and about much lately, and most of my family & friends are nonsmokers. So I've just been vaping away quietly and don't really plan on making a big deal out of it. I've got a couple of sisters who will eventually find out, and that should be fun. It could go either way. I hope I can be down to 0 mg by then. They don' live near by, so I think I'm good on that. They won't believe I gave up smoking. I just figure if I come across someone who notices and asks about it, I'll talk to them & explain, but have no plan to go looking for smokers. So far I've not had to contend with anyone who thinks this is not a real way to quit smoking. And, btw, what IS a healthy, proper & fool proof way to quit. In 47 years of smoking, I've never heard of such a thing. Alcoholics & drug addicts have clinics they can get clean at getting pumped full of all kinds of meds to help them through. Smokers have patches, gum, chantix, friends & family who rag on them about will power, toughing it out, etc. That's not sounding very 'proper' to me. I'd say they mostly don't know anything about vaping.

My main Dr was thrilled about it. The other Dr knew about ecigs, but had never seen one. He was very curious and ask all about it... checking it all out. He seemed excited about it. That's all I care about. Even if they disapproved, I was going to keep on vaping, but at least they knew about it.

as someone who quit for extended periods of time before with a great product out there called "smoke away," i can tell you this....

in the years during my hiatus of quitting, i never stopped really wanting a cigarette and constantly found myself thinking about smoking. i would have one and hate it but it wouldnt stop me from picking up a cigarette months later just to try it again.

i HATED smoking, but the pull was always there.

will this keep me from doing that? i am not sure, only time will tell. but i would much rather pick up an ecig than smoke an analogue to test my theory about my desires to smoke.

Ok let look at the facts. When people start vape they usualy decrease analog cig smoking or even quit. Who makes things to help quit smoking? Tobacco companies. Why FDA trying to ban them? Bc tobacco companies pay them. Why tobbaco companies pay to fda to hate on e-cigs ? Bc they scared, ones every one realizes that e-cigs are actualy working method no one gonna use tobacco products.

From my point of view, I do not really care what non vapers think. Again, it seems that they are completely ignorant and simply concludes that it is unsafe. They went further by claiming that it would instigate underage to start smoking. But they are lost in the crux of the matter. Smokers want to quit. They want a favorable substitute. Meaning, smokers second rate vaporizers. Non-smokers have no idea at all - just assumptions, skepticism and fear. Scared that the tobacco industry would slump - its bad for the economy. If they are not scared, then why make assumptions without credibility. They could simply label the device - 'To be used by adults only.'
